Fashion Diary of Mrs. Mom: Gabriela Hearst X MYTHERESA, a New Era of Sustainable Luxury

My dear fashionistas, welcome to my new fashion story on the pages of the Mr.M blog. I’m really glad that you like my take on fashion and that I inspire many women in their prime to change their minds and bring some novelty into their lives.

The fact that I am opening this spring season with a new brand from South America, more precisely from Uruguay, which over time has become a symbol of sustainable luxury – Gabriela Hearst makes me happy. My task today was to create an elegant fashion outfit with the MYTHERESA shopping platform.

I believe many of you have heard about MYTHERESA shopping platform on Mr.M blog, but I would like to introduce you to this electronic fashion paradise. MYTHERESA is one of the leading global luxury e-commerce platforms operating in over 130 countries. Founded as a boutique in 1987, MYTHERESA launched online in 2006 and offers ready-to-wear, shoes, bags and accessories for women, men and children, as well as lifestyle products.

The MYTHERESA online store was founded in 2006 by Susanne and Christoph Botschen and is connected to the multi-brand store in Munich (formerly the THERESA store). In 2014, the THERESA store and mytheresa.com were acquired by the American luxury retailer Neiman Marcus for €150 million, giving Neiman Marcus greater access to international customers and strengthening their e-commerce technology.

During Neiman Marcus’ bankruptcy in 2020, the company began the process of spinning off Mytheresa as an independent entity. In January 2019, Mytheresa launched a children’s clothing category, and in January 2020, Mytheresa Men was launched. In May 2022, a new homeware and lifestyle category followed. In 2022, Mytheresa expanded its luxury offering to include home decor and lifestyle products.

The novelty they presented this year is the launch of certified second-hand watches from over 25 luxury brands, such as Audemars Piguet and Cartier, in cooperation with the Swiss jewelry and watch company Bucherer. As a global retailer, Mytheresa operates in 8 languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese and Korean.

After more than a decade in design in New York, Gabriela honored her family’s legacy by launching her eponymous brand in fall 2015, as well as taking over operations at her father’s ranch in Uruguay.

Gabriela wanted to create a brand that reflects a slower pace and process: where things are made with care and detail, where tradition is more important than trend, where every piece has a purpose. Gabriela’s commitment is to create a strong and modern collection without compromising her ethics and core values, taking into account where the materials come from and who makes them: luxury with a conscience or in other words, “honest luxury”. Each garment is an object in which Gabriela can translate her desire – made of impeccable construction and uncompromising, noble materials.

Together they tell the story of the places she loves that made her who she is: Uruguay and New York. Jackets and coats are lined with this special silver fabric that prevents cell phone radiation from reaching the female reproductive organs. Aloe treated flax, a much fuller fiber than cotton because it absorbs less water than cotton, and at the same time you can eat flaxseed so it has extra nutritional value. Combining the utilitarian and the beautiful, she wanted to design long-lasting garments that hold memories for the woman who wears them. She is a real woman, attractive and powerful, but there is a lot of action in her life and these clothes are her uniform, her armor.

The aim is to give customers more transparency by sharing the supply chain and giving them access to learn more about their clothing journey.

Since I am a Leo as my zodiac sign and I like things that sparkle, I decided to change the buttons on the jacket and put something that is recognizable in my style. The second fashion designer I want to introduce to you is Magda Butrym, a Polish luxury fashion designer who founded her brand in 2014. Magda Bytrum created her own view of femininity, shaping a unique identity for women around the world. She redefines craftsmanship, creating a contemporary vision of romanticism in fashion. It connects the past with the future, minimalism with sexuality, elegance with lightness, strength with sensitivity.

Magda Butrym collaborates with independent artisans from all over Poland, enriching the highest quality fabrics with hand-knitted pieces, knitted leather and hand-embroidered ornaments. On one occasion Ms. Butrym explained her creative vision: “I don’t want to define women. I want to empower them. I want us all to feel comfortable in our own skin, happy, powerful and confident. We should all be our own muses!”

As for jewelry, today I decided on a brooch from the Saint Laurent collection, which you can find on the MYTHERESA shopping platform. The pearl necklace is from my personal collection that I bought 15 years ago and it was made by MIKIMOTO jewelers. I think these pieces have refreshed and enriched my outfit today because I am a big pearl lover.

Years have passed, I honestly haven’t had the chance to wear both ballet flats until today when I got this amazing Gabriela Hearst blazer.
