My dear travellers, how are you today? It’s time to fulfill my promise and take you to a new adventure. Yes, that’s what I promised you for a while, and YES, it’s time for posts from Morocco! Less than a month ago, I had the opportunity to visit the Kingdom of Morocco with the help of my friends from the Moroccan National Tourism Office.

Judging by social networks, Morocco is the destination that has caused the most emotions in most of my readers. Frankly, the same case was with me. For some time I dream of going to Morocco and just to feel that mixture of Africa and Europe in French language. Morocco is a country that you can not describe just in three words. It’s a land of contrast and that special spirit you just need to go there and feel it by yourself. You will see what I’m talking about after your visit to this wonderful Kingdom.

When did my love for this country begin? Once upon a time, it must be between 15 and 17 years ago, somebody should correct me if I’m wrong, the movie “Original Sin” came out, the main roles were played by Antonio Banderas and Angelina Jolie. Everyone who watched the movie (believe me, it’s fantastic!) Remembers the last scene that probably was not filmed in Marrakech, but Morocco was presented on a beautiful old map and how Angelina Jolie found refuge in Morocco after her escape from jail.

The scene is magical, music, dance, and that spirit of Morocco simply influenced little Marko to explore a little more about that country in Africa. After that with my dear two ladies, my mother and my sister I watched the famous series “El Clone” in Serbia we called it “Forbidden Love”. Soap opera where the love of two young people who just wanted to be together, but as you know in almost every soap opera something just must be forbidden.

I’m sure most of you heard about that series, or maybe even looked at an episode where Jade (the main actress) seduces Lucas with her oriental dance. This series is filmed in Morocco and there you can see those unusual streets and narrow small streets. This soap opera will show you part of traditional Morocco where the rules that are simply to be respected apply.

For the end, the movie “Sex and the City 2” is a film which was filmed in Morocco, more precisely in Marrakech, but for some reason – read because of sponsors. Morocco is presented as Abu Dhabi in the film. It’s a little bit selfish and sad, but it’s a good reason to visit Morocco just to show yourself and also them that they are wrong because they didn’t show reality.

My trip to Morocco may have been a bit longer than usual, but I must admit it was worth every minute of waiting at the airports. I wanted to see myself in this oriental country and to be in direct contact with Morocco, not to see it only in good series and films. I succeeded, I fulfilled my another childhood dream. Morocco has been marked on my blogger map!

The pictures that you had the opportunity to see above were the photos of my hotel La Sultana from Marrakech I photographed the first morning after I came to this magical country. Thank you for having me there! It was magical! Perhaps I arrived late in Marrakesh the previous night, but I felt that spirit of Morocco from the soap opera “Forbidden Love” when Jade went to meet with her dear and all those scenes somehow flashed through my crazy blogger’s head. The feeling is really incredible!

After the breakfast, a photographer/blogger Saul, who was with me on this trip and I decided to visit that famous Souk market. The legend says that you can find what you are looking for at that market, but you have to think about that and have a great desire, otherwise it will not work.

The Souk is unusual and it can be problematic if you do not have a good  coordination in space. Almost all streets look similar  and you can easily get lost. I found my way because I have some crazy ability to remember where I need to go if I remember some of details in that location. This time those thing were lamps, colourful tiles, unusual clothes of the sellers, so I remembered all those things and I did not get lost, as you can see today I share my impressions in this post with you! ?

This open market in Marrakech is not just a place to shop, it’s also a place where you can meet someone and to socialize. In this unusual market, besides interesting things you can buy, always you can meet someone and find out new things, a man learns new thing while he is alive, right? Moroccans are people who have a very good soul, every salesman had something interesting to tell me. I met a tailor who had the opportunity to dress up their queen and proudly hold her picture in his salon, but jealously guarded her and he did not give me to take a photo. That was very interesting! 🙂

I met a lot of interesting people on the market and everybody had some kind of story, but none of them was boring. That’s probably connects tourists with Morocco. I’m just sorry that I did not have the opportunity to speak a little more with an elderly couple who sell interesting jewelry handmade of gold and precious stones. They spoke French, I understood every 10th word, but my smile was enough. Luckily the translator was there, a photographer Saul who was with me on the trip had an interesting story, but I will just tell you that he is a Mexican living in Paris. Interesting, isn’t it?!

Raul was the only person who managed to help me to communicate with these wonderful people and hear their stories. It was very interesting, but we spent more than planned on the market, so we were asked by people from the Tourist Organization, they were looking for us. We were a bit “rude” so we were running out of the market, otherwise we would not be able to make these beautiful photos from the market. Of course, they forgave us, but in the next city we were under their control! ? It was quite interesting.

The market is divided into several parts, and most bloggers when they come to Marrakech they visit only the most popular parts. I was more persistent and I also met wonderful people. I even got interesting gifts! My mom did not believe how much I had brought jewelry for her, because I received it as a reward for shooting their products and portraits of the owners. There, I “earn” something as a photographer in Morocco! ?

I managed to find a little time and to be a bit on the other side of the camera on this market, even this colorful graffiti I found. Thanks to Saul for patience, you need to have patience for just taking photos of me. My mom was almost crazy because I did not talk to her so often, but when she saw this picture, she forgave me everything. (I’m a little lying now, she forgave me everything when she saw jewelry in my suitcase!: D).

The picture above was taken during our rest break and while we were trying to order the water, thank God Saul was more persistent and we finally got our water. The struggle was incredible, but we came out as winners. Perhaps I was a bit dehydrated, but I think this picture has best illustrated the daily life of the market in Marrakech. We tried to count if we see more people or hats, but when water came to our table, we simply forgot about our small game.

When I got my precious water, Saul suggested that we climb the stairs to the top of the restaurant because he heard that the photos from there are fantastic. This is the result of my work, I sincerely hope you like it! ?

Maybe it’s not the best masterpiece, but it’s heartbreaking! I wanted to show that the market is actually a small town and is growing every day as a large number of passengers come to Marrakesh.

Hats are beautiful, various shapes and with nice details of bright colors, but the program must be realized! The desert calls us! Marrakech is really unusual and magical place! Now, I’m sure you wondering why? Imagine this situation. You’re driving around the city, take pictures of people around, you see the shops, the vibrancy of the city and life in Marrakech and suddenly you see cactus and desert. After driving for twenty minutes through the desert we reached our other location. I must admit that I was happy as a little child, because with my almost 26 years I have never seen a camel in live, and that was a great excitement for me.

Meet Yildiz (translated: Star), this is the mother of the camel who loved me so we even made a selfie. She was also very sociable, but her daughter was little better and I’ve did with her amazing and interesting things. First we did not find a common language. Melek didn’t like me, so she didn’t pay attention on me I just was invisible for her. After a few minutes, Melek realized that my yellow shirt was interesting. She tried to get in direct contact with it, while I was shooting the landscape, but luckily I managed to save the my favourite t-shirt. 🙂

Melek saw that I had a camera, and she also revealed her love for photography. After I showed her mother’s pictures and her portrait, I got an interesting kiss. And how did all this look from the side, it was recorded by Saul. At the end, I would like to thank to the Moroccan National Tourism Office for this wonderful adventure, my new friend and photographer Saul for excellent photos and good time and Melek of course because she spent some of her time with me! Thank you guys!

My dear travelers once again we have come to the end of this post, time just flies so fast when you are having a good time! Don’t worry in a couple of days I will publish a new post where we will continue together to enjoy the charms of traveling and we will continue our adventure in Morocco.

How do you like this story about Marrakech? I would like to hear your opinion! If you have a question, comment, suggestion or message for me, you can write me down in the comments. Of course, as always you can contact me via mail or social media, which you can find on the CONTACT page.

As I promised we’ll see again in a couple of days, so if something new and interesting happens to me, I promise, I will write to you!

Best,

Mr.M

Nice post Marko, I would like to ask you something, but be honest not because they paid you to write this. I understand that you must earn something, but I want to know the truth. La Sultana hotel is worth of that money? 300€-400€ per night is quite expensive I saw some photos and everything looks small and weird. Please I hope that you will answer me.
