Postcard from Russia: From Moscow with Love

Good morning, my dear travellers, how are you today? Last week we finished our adventure in Eastern Turkey and it’s time for little Marko to move on. The same day, just a few hours after returning from Istanbul, I returned to the airport again and headed to the capital of Russia – Moscow. The reason for my visit was Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Moscow, which every year gathers the greatest fashion lovers because Russia is known as the best and also the largest market in Eastern Europe.

This trip wouldn’t have been possible without the help of the airline company Red Wings, a Russian airline that has recently started to operate direct flights to Moscow from Belgrade (Serbia). Red Wings was established in 1999 in Moscow with the intention of connecting cities from Central Russia with interesting tourist destinations in Russia and abroad as well.

Red Wings currently has 12 airplanes in their fleet, they expect to extend their “flying family” with 4 new members this year. All planes have only an economic class, there is no business class. The company’s basic goals are passenger comfort and prices that are affordable to most passengers who want to discover some new destinations. When you’re purchasing tickets, you can choose one of three offered tariffs, one of them is LIGHT where you have the option of traveling only with hand luggage.

Route Belgrade – Moscow is something new, the company Red Wings is operating less than a year, which is a novelty in Serbian market. From now on, you can fly four times a week from Nikola Tesla Airport to Domodedovo airport and in about 3 hours you will arrive in the main capital of the modern Russian Empire.

Catering on the flight is exceptional, the choice of meals is great, portions are more than enough, believe me, I did not feel the need to have dinner after the flight. I can say all the best for the crew, for the first time in my blogger life, I was personally greeted by the pilots and the whole crew, which was an extraordinary experience for me. It was a great pleasure for me to work with a company like Red Wings and I hope that we will cooperate in the future and I will discover some other interesting cities in Russia. Who knows?! Everything is possible!

I just want to share with you one interesting fact, this summer Red Wings airline will celebrate 20th anniversary, so I’m sure they prepared some interesting gifts, so watch out carefully maybe you will catch some interesting offers and buy flight tickets for Moscow or some other interesting destination, check out their routes I’m sure you will find some interesting destination. It would be a nice gift for you or for your beloved ones. But you must promise me this will be our little secret!

This is my first photo from Moscow, I must admit that it was cold if you know the fact that the officially spring was already started, but in Moscow everything is different as you see… Different! It was was amazing night, those light decorations like in fairy tale, but my photographer wants to give me some lessons about my “traveling behaviour” with suitcases, but also trying hard to pull them like it’s nothing special hard… The photographer convinced me that I took along in Moscow with my “blogger diamonds” as the suitcase was so heavy that we could not find a better excuse for my crazy packing… Just imagine how I managed to pack all those things in only two hours… Do not mess with blogger who is going on Fashion Week… Never!

As you can see the decorations in Moscow are still on the streets and I can tell you it’s really great because you have the feeling that a million stars from the sky show you the right way. Tired of the previous adventure and another flight, somehow I reached the hotel…

Next morning, alarm on the telephone woke up me and officially the 30th of March was started, my first day in Moscow and the first day of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Moscow. Honestly, I didn’t sleep so much, maybe 2,3 hours, I spent almost all the night reading the instructions and schedule of all my duties… I did not even know where to go… As I finished with reading I just tried to calm down myself a little with the fact that I would probably not be the only one who lost in a metropolis like Moscow, otherwise known as a city with over 20 million people… Oh, Man three times bigger than my whole country Serbia!

Of course, it would not be me if I did not open all the packages I got, so I had to try all the things I got from various brands so I could go as all fashion blogger well dressed to the shows. Frankly, when I received the email from my PR agency that Loro Piana, one of the most famous Italian brands, showed an interest in cooperating with my blog, I could not simply believe that I would finally feel the softness of their famous cashmere and special Loro Piana wool. I was trying all those beautiful clothes in 4 am, so you can see the level of my great excitement!

I tried to copy some of the world’s famous bloggers, like “what a fashionable chaos is in my room, please do not disturb me”. The task failed, but we got a nice picture where I finally do not have a huge thighs when I’m sitting, but that’s why I make so many wrinkles my pants during this shooting. I thought that I need to iron them after breakfast, but I noticed that they were “corrected” after some time, so there was no need to iron them. Thanks God! Finally, I found the perfect trousers!

The photographer reminded me of my a long time unfulfilled wish, as I constantly talked about films and series where the main actors literally “glide” down the stairs and some bloggers have great photos like in the “Welcome to my beautiful home!”. This picture is very dear to me for a simple reason – finally people can see that I have eyes, since many people asked me where are my eyes when I’m smiling… Maybe on this photo my head is round and wide like the sun here, but it does not matter because my greatest critic (mom) gave me some powerful compliments for this picture and even ended up on the background of her phone… The sister was jealous for couple of days, I do not know if she has overcome this so far.

Moscow is a huge city and I know how difficult it is to find an ideal hotel in the city center, even if you consider the fact that you have come to the city on the list of cities that are the most expensive in the world then you understand that Moscow is all about nice and luxury things including all luxury premium fashion brands, amazing hotels and international restaurant with many different cuisines.

The first hotel in which I had the opportunity to stay on this trip was St. Regis Nikolskaya, a hotel located on the Lubyanka square few minutes from the famous Red Square. This 5-star hotel offers special personalised service as personal butler. All rooms in the hotel are decorated in the style of baroque with added stylish shades of brown tones that emphasize the elegance of this sumptuous paradise in the heart of Moscow.

This hotel is ideal for all travelers whose interests are related to culture, theater and history because Tverskoy part of the city is known as the main cultural core of the city where various cultural events are held. Also, this hotel is ideal for parents with children as it is also rated with the highest grade as the best family hotel for all those families who are looking for outstanding vacation in Moscow.

Now, the part that most of us adore, food! Breakfast is served daily in the Italian restaurant A Tavola located within the hotel. International cuisine, adapted to everyone… I have to admit that I was stick to this table those days with fresh fruit with croissants since I ate in Turkey as if it were not there tomorrow for me! In Moscow, I was on a diet, where I managed to lose 4 kilograms in 6 days with my diet “Now my dear Marko you will have some fun with fruit when you didn’t know to stop on time!”.

There’s a one interesting secret place – closed garden! On the picture from the hotel lobby which you saw few moments ago, you might have noticed a beautiful glass cupola. I’ve seen some pictures of the hotel’s beautiful yard, the first two days I tried to find it myself, but of course it was unsuccessful… My photographer came to the information, because I was embarrassed to ask because of my stubbornness because I was convinced that The yard must be somewhere… Of course, a visit to this yard must be announced because access is possible only with the personal butler. Interesting, we succeeded one morning to visit and see what is being hiding in that courtyard located somewhere in St. Regis Nikolskaya hotel…

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel, even I showed my admiration and I asked is there some possibility to be an inventory in this hotel, I would volunteer to sleep in the hotel hallway in a sleeping bag with a fruit breakfast… My suggestion was charming to the management of the St. Regis Nikolskaya Hotel, who knows I may one day succeed! This photo just screams: “Hello, I live here!”.

My staying at this hotel I will remember for the wonderful staff, even better candy on the pillow I ate to convince myself that black chocolate is not going to gain some weight… Marko, my dear child chocolate of course will help you to gain some weight, but if you walk 20 kilometers a day, you’re not going to get them so fast. As always, I’m just talking about weight! 😀

Since I could not find my photographer, who knows where he was lost in Moscow, I asked a maid if she was willing to help me, so the picture is above the masterpiece of a woman who does not normally take photos, but a two-minute course was enough for this lady to make this picture. I wanted to show you what the carpet looks like on my floor, so it’s good that I wanted to get one for my room. Everything is so classy and elegant!

I was simply delighted with this street lighting, I had the feeling because of the temperature that every evening the New Year’s Eve was there! It is not naive when you go out of the hall where the fashion shows and after you go out to minus 2 degrees outside or some degree that has crossed the zero a little… I really want to get some tips from Russians, their immunity is the best in the world. I want to have immunity system like that!

My dear travellers once again we have come to the end of our travel adventure. Time just flies so fast when you are having a good time! At the end of the post, I would like to thank my friends from Red Wings for this incredible adventure and the friendly staff from St. Regis Nikolskaya hotel that made our stay pleasant and we felt like we were at home.

How do you like this post about Moscow? Have you ever visited Russia? Did you have chance to enjoy in the magic of the Russian culture and maybe to buy some interesting matryoshka doll? I will show your mine in the next post, so stay tuned! I would like to share with me your experience! One Little Red Postcard from Cyprus

Hello guys, I hope that you are doing great. As you know another Friday came to mark the end of the working week. I sincerely hope that this week was not hard for you, but I have to admit that we have received another “uninvited white guest” today in Serbia – snow. Some people really enjoy in snow and other winter magic, but I belong to that other group of people who would, if possible, only snow fall on the mountains as it once is dangerous in the city.

Today I am continuing my story from Cyprus. Today, I’ve prepared for you a small fashion story from Larnaca. I struggle against winter, snow and cold with a sunny, warm and bright post from Cyprus. I think it will help me in a mental way to overcome this current cold that I feel because thank God heating system is not working… again!

Who had an opportunity to read my previous post from Cyprus, I am sure that you are now very familiar with the beauty of this lovely island which radiates and attracts an increasing number of visitors from the world and Europe each year. Who has not been able to read a post, you can do it now – LINK.

I succeeded to make this post on the first morning in Cyprus, because according to the itinerary organized by my dear friends from the National Tourism Office of the Republic of Cyprus, we noticed that we will leave Larnaca the next morning and we will not be able to make a post. That’s why my tired, very sick, but unbridled spirit has decided that it is best to immediately make an outfit post that will mark my trip to Cyprus.

The sunny morning was just calling me outside. I was out of my mind, although I must admit I was sick and I packed the jacket in my backpack, because I had a feeling of coldness, because of my flu. I managed to make myself stand somehow out in short sleeves because I noticed that all people on the promenade were in short sleeves, some even in the shorts, so I was convinced it was just my cold that didn’t give me peace.

What to write about this outfit? I honestly do not have a special story, maybe I bought these interesting trousers in Zara this year in Germany at the final sales of almost 3 sizes bigger and that after I take them to the tailor to style them properly (and they were not done again as I imagined, but at least now they are on me!).

This insane shopping was influenced by amazing nice price… That moment when you that they make a huge discount and your favorite trousers just drop off from 60 euros to 7 euros and you just buy them… That’s what I did with these pants. I received the information that it was the only one size of this model in whole Berlin and they maybe had a smaller size, but in a city that is approximately 300,400 km far from Berlin… I just take them, and I’ll think about the tailor after. Few months later, I managed to fix them somehow, as can be seen on the photos in this post. ?

This red T-shirt, very important to me is also bought at summer sales in Zara, but in Belgrade. I have at least 10 red Zara t-shirts that are similar, nobody in the family sees the difference between them, but I know exactly where I bought a particular shirt and how many times I wear it for the fashion posts. Someone will think that I have “wacked” a little. I can say in my defense that these are nice memories and one kind of training brain normal memory function.

You have seen  these sneakers in two posts so far on my blog, outfit post 1 and outfit post 2 (outfit with leather black jacket). I bought this sneakers this summer in Serravalle Outlet. Again a similar situation as with trousers, I just bought two sizes smaller sneakers, when I saw the price I could not believe so that my shallow blogging pocket finally could have opportunity to by something nice. Thank God I have a fantastic cobbler who always looks forward to every my visit, because I think that I am the most frequent customer and always with the same problem…

Well, now I found out how I got “manage” for this outfit. No one is perfect! My God, we are all human beings with all their good and bad sides that may make life difficult for us or it makes it easier sometimes. Now, while I’m writing this post and look at these beautiful photos from Larnaca, I only remember the sun, the wind and the smell of the sea… This adventure has ended, but now I am at least there when I share with you my memories from Cyprus through my posts, I refresh some nice moments which we had there on Cyprus.

My dear fashionistas once again we have come to the end of this special fashion outfit post from Cyprus. Time just flies so fast when you are having a good time! Don’t worry in a couple of days I will publish a new post where we will continue together to enjoy the charms of traveling and we will continue our adventure in Cyprus.

Letters from Morocco: Little Piece of Heaven in the Heart of Marrakech

My dear adventurers (and for all those who feel that way) welcome to my new post! Today I have some strange feeling where joy and sadness are mixed. Joy because I share something new with you from the country that left on me such a significant impression. On the other hand, there is a sense of sadness, because this post is also the last post from this special series of posts from Morocco.

Today I am leading you to an unusual paradise of the forgotten fashion virtuoso – Yves Saint Laurent. Yves Henri Donat Mathieu-Saint-Laurent, better known as Yves Saint Laurent, was the famous French fashion designer born in Algeria, which is today considered one of the greatest names in fashion history. His reputation in the world is enormous, and at the same time many believe that he is actually responsible for the revival of high fashion from the “ashes of the sixties” and is attributed to the introduction of suits for women. Some people thought  that he was crazy, some challenged him, but Saint Laurent was the man who always went ahead of his time. Huge support in his work were provided by famous ladies, singers and actresses and one of them was Catherine Deneuve.

Before I “get lost” in my blogging enthusiasm, I would like to sincerely thank to the National Moroccan Tourism Office for this exceptional experience that I will remember for a lifetime. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Okay, you’re surely now wondering what the famous French designer like Saint-Laurent have some relations with Marrakech? Not far from the center of Marrakech, there is a street dedicated to this famous fashion designer, on one side are residential buildings, on the other side is Jardin Majorelle (botanical garden designed by painter Jacques Majorelle). A little far away from the classic Moroccan walls, on the other part of the city in nature and colorful heaven, there was second home of Yves Saint Laurent with his longtime partner Pierre Berge.

The house of unusually blue colour with bright shades of yellow was the home of a well-known fashion designer. The villa is surrounded by unusual African plants, but it was also the symbol of Saint Laurent and his eccentricity.

The villa that used for escaping from the real world, today attracts several hundred thousand people a year. All the adventurers who finds their way to Marrakech, just can’t skip this little paradise. Thanks to Berger, this site became available to the public after the death of the fashion designer so that all lovers of the work of Saint Laurent could enjoy the beauty of this garden.

Majorelle Garden, a botanical garden, covers an area of nearly ten thousand square meters and is a true artwork in the heart of Marrakech. The garden was designed by a French artist, painter Jacques Majorelle. How the garden looks today, it took almost 40 years. Everything started in 1923 with the planning the appearance of the garden itself, so that only seven years later a villa was built in the heart of the garden, the home of Saint Laurent and Berger, they were home a totally new look in the 1980s and rescued it from decay. Today, the villa and the garden are open to the public.

In addition to the garden and villa in this complex, there is also the Museum of Islamic Art, which offers an interesting selection of exhibits. Samples of textiles from the almost all regions of Africa, as well as samples of textiles from the special collections of Saint Laurent, can be found in this museum. In addition to the textiles in the museum are exhibited objects of ceramics, paintings by Majorelle and other artists.

Just a 2-minute of walking from this extraordinary paradise, in the same street with the is a newly opened museum dedicated to the life and work of the French designer Yves Saint-Laurent. Who would say that during the first Saint Laurent’s visit to Morocco in 1996, Marrakech would leave such a strong impression on the designer that he would then build his home in Marrakech and after his death that Government of Morocco will create a modern museum that would preserve his brilliant work in the fashion world.

A multimedia museum featuring thousands of books and videos, as well as special creations that marked the career of this celebrated designer. For those who are not familiar with his work and life, the fashion house “Yves Saint Laurent” officially closed its doors in 2002 and therefore the YSL brand has officially not exist. The designer withdrew due to illness and went for treatment. The brand has been redeemed, it has remained part of the brand name, and now the brand is called “Saint Laurent,” all sales revenue from the Yves Saint Laurent brand is located in a special foundation that is based on two museums: one in Paris and the other in Marrakech, financed and thus saved the designer’s work from oblivion.

Saint Laurent died in 2008 of brain tumors, but many believe he died of a broken heart because he was no longer able to create his real small art works that he was known to. His ashes were lit in Jardin Majorella because his desire was to enjoy in his garden and after his death. I think that he is very happy now in his small sunny paradise where the bloom of blue and greenery of African plants are running.

The museum is incredible and sincere to be you do not have to be some “blind” fashion lover to understand the work of this fashion genius. The man was unusual, his story in the fashion world will intrigue you and I believe that you, like me in one breath, will read those text lines that are written on the walls of the museum rooms.

He knew everything, his ups and downs, his friendship with Ketrin Denev – the famous French actress who was his best friend for the rest of his life. She was also the only brave to help him with his “crazy” and unusual ideas and together they made many successful campaigns. Yves Saint Laurent, besides the incredible gift for creating clothes and understanding of a woman, was an incredible photographer. The whole room is dedicated to the photos he made with Katherine Denev for his campaigns. On the photo above, I sincerely hope that you can, as much as you can, see the photos that Saint Laurent did with Katherine in Marrakech on the famous Souk.

In the museum there is a small cinema hall where you can comfortably accommodate and look at the recapitulation of this designer’s work and some interesting facts about his life. To visit this museum and botanical garden peacefully, and if you want to sit a little in the garden and feel the peace and beauty of nature, you should spend at least 2 to 3 hours. After that, you can continue to explore the heart of Morocco – Marrakech.

My blog day continued at the Palais Namascar Hotel where we had a small break and a nice brunch. The hotel is exceptional, I’m sure you will open the link to check it out and believe me it’s divine! Morocco’s Tourist Organisation has tried to show us the best that can be found in Marrakech.

Palais Namascar is a true paradise on earth and those who have the opportunity to visit Marrakech will not regret it because it is a combination of paradise surrounded by sun and hedonism garden where all your senses will enjoy.

My dear travelers once again we have come to the end of post, time just flies so fast when you are having a good time! Don’t worry in a couple of days I will publish a new post where we will continue together to enjoy the charms of traveling and we will continue our adventure in Europe. If you need more information about address and work time of Yves Saint Laurent Museum Marrakech please visit this LINK.

How do you like this story about Marrakech? Did you like feel the fashion energy of Saint Laurent’s garden?  I would like to hear your opinion! If you have a question, comment, suggestion or message for me, you can write me down in the comments. Of course, as always you can contact me via mail or social media, which you can find on the CONTACT page.

As I promised we’ll see again in a couple of days, so if something new and interesting happens to me, I promise, I will write to you!

Best,

Mr.M
