My dear fashionistas, welcome to my new fashion story on the pages of the Mr.M blog in this Autumn-Winter 2024/25 season. As for jewelry, today I decided on a pearl necklace that is from my personal collection, I bought it about ten years ago and it was made by MIKIMOTO jewelers, the earrings are also from my personal collection and I have special memories for both pieces. I think these pieces have refreshed and enriched my outfit today because I am a big pearl lover.

This time I decided to complete my outfit with shoes from the Italian brand Brunello Cucinelli. There is no person who has not resisted wearing these famous Italian fashion houses, regardless of whether it is a person of female or male gender, Brunello Cucinelli shoes are loved by the whole planet because of their refined elegance and incredible comfort. The shoes from today’s fashion story are the iconic model of elegant dark brown moccasins.

I love fur and love to wear it. This wonderful mink fur coat with an unusual cut has taken a special place in my wardrobe this winter season. I am honored because I had the opportunity to see for myself the quality and design of the sweater that the Aida Barni brand team gave my son, as well as the fantastic knitwear that I showed you on the blog last summer season. Aida Barni is synonymous with perfect softness and refined Italian processing of cashmere. Also, sometimes you need to make yourself happy with something new, maybe it’s a new hairstyle, and today I was happy with this beautiful dress from the new Aida Barni FW23/24 collection. Today I will continue story about new friends of the Mr.M blog who have managed to bring together exquisite luxury artisan crafts, Italian passion and exquisite Neapolitan craftsmanship. Artigiano del Guanto (ADG) is an artisan glove workshop active in the northern part of Naples, founded by Giovanni Ricciardiello, an experienced glove maker for 10 decades, a historical exponent of the tradition of the ancient Neapolitan glove makers. A few years ago, in 2016 to be precise, the laboratory was renovated and with it the brand was born: Artigiano Del Guanto.

Today, Artigiano Del Guanto is no longer a “simple” workshop of artisan gloves, but a family company in which the new generation of heirs Francesco, Mimmo and Flora, Giovanni’s children stand out, who, with the indispensable presence of their father, in addition to the brand, renewed the production chain with a completely new styles and models, connected with new modern communication channels, in order to satisfy the needs of even the most demanding customer. I promised to tell you more about wigs, so today I’m going to share with you how to properly care for wigs and toupees. In the previous post we learned how to properly wash and dry a wig, today I will try to explain to you how you can properly comb your wig, as well as other tips. When someone thinks of having to wear a wig, most people get scared thinking that it will take too much time to maintain them. Fortunately, that is not the case at all. What does a working day look like at the Artigiano Del Guanto craft workshop? The working day starts early in the morning between 6:30 and 7 am, when the doors of the ADG workshop are already open. The first word that rings out in the craft workshop is “Good morning”. At 07:30 the first morning coffee is already ready and at 08:00 the working day begins. The first bucket of leather softening water is already full and can be found under the marble counter that will soon be almost 45 years old.

The first stage of processing is in moistening the leather by wrapping it in cloth, previously immersed in a bucket of water for a few seconds, then we move on to laying the leather on the counter, strictly manual work, adopting the right criteria. Then, with the help of scissors, a leather rectangle is formed. From here, the technical processing begins, with the splitting of the leather, it begins to take the form of a glove. Once the desired shape has been obtained, the embroidery itinerary is followed, which through small pictures, blades, curved cuts and various molds bring the holes, leather stitching, weaving, straps, pleats to life.

Are we done making the glove? No, there’s still a lot to do! Now we are in the delicate stage of the seam, entrusted to a highly qualified staff who has been doing this work for about 35 years. Glove production machines differ depending on the type of seam. During the final stage of processing, the passion and frugality of those who sew exclusively by hand and create small works of art are not neglected, as someone described years ago.

After sewing, we move on to the “shocking” phase, that is, to the exact control of the seams, which precedes the installation. The coating is done using special wooden hands on which the coating is placed. Small, traditional gestures of our workshop of handmade gloves… A light veil of vegetable glue is spread over the fingertips, and then the glove is inserted. To make sure the lining is stuck, the glove is placed on the thermal hand which will increase its adhesion. The final stages of production continue with work that can be done by hand or by machine and we are almost at the end of the line in fact only two stops short! Handmade gloves are ‘shown’, or ironed on thermal hands, bonded with cotton and undergo a final inspection, before passing through to destination packaging.

In today’s fashion story, I will present you unusual gloves that are made of the finest pony hair. Dafne (GKJ-0818) is a model of women’s gloves collection made of calf leather, completely handmade. The Dafne is developed from bimaterials with a pony-effect calfskin part and a lambskin palm. The Dafne Handmade Glove is made from a hand-woven leather strap with covered buckles. The lining is made of 100% cashmere.

Gemmi is a new partner of Mr.M blog, a luxury outerwear brand from Finland. All Gemmi pieces are crafted in the Gemmi factory in Finland with the help of skilled and experienced craftsmen and tailors. The materials they use are natural and sustainable and selected for their quality characteristics and responsible production.

How did the Gemmi brand come about? The brand was born out of necessity due to extremely harsh winters in the north of Europe. The history of the Gemmi brand dates back to the early 70s when a factory was built in the small town of Loviisa, located in southern Finland. The vision of the founder of the contemporary Gemmi fur brand got a new life in 2014. I am truly impressed by the work of Ms. Susanne Stenfors and her team who put a lot of love and effort into making Gemmi products and are truly dedicated to each client individually. Gemmi has always created its own unique style of modern fur coats. Their team saw an opportunity to develop a line of fur products that were already well designed, high quality, functional and responsibly made, into a contemporary brand of fur jackets and coats with clearer influences from the Nordic design tradition.

Gemmi is a family company continuing the long tradition of clothing and fur production in Finland. Their fur factory is one of the few textile and fur factories in the Nordic countries, where the right attitude and proper clothing are needed to get through the long and dark winters. In addition, they equally need some kind of outerwear during all seasons. All Gemmi products are designed and handcrafted in Finland. The Gemmi team found inspiration for the new collections in timeless design archives and experimented with different materials to create new contemporary pieces for all four seasons.

In today’s fashion story, I will present you some fashion pieces from my favorite Italian brand – Max Mara. Max Mara is a world famous Italian fashion brand. It was founded in 1951 in Reggio Emilia by Mr. Achille Maramotti. This legendary brand sponsors and awards the Max Mara Women’s Art Award. Achille Maramotti began creating wardrobes in 1947, and officially founded the Max Mara fashion house in 1951. How did the brand name come about?

The second word of the brand – “Mara” was derived from Mr. Maramotti surname, while “Max” referred to Count Max, a local legend, who was rarely sober, but always so classy and stylish! Everyone who follows the Mr.M blog knows that I am a big fan of quality and interesting shoes, regardless of whether they are sneakers or elegant shoes, I always try to pay maximum attention to fashion details such as footwear. Today I want to introduce you to a new Italian brand whose footwear models I adore and I am glad to be able to present them to you today on the Mr.M blog.

Zegna is an Italian luxury fashion house. It was founded by Ermenegildo Zegna in 1910 in Trivero, Biella in the Piedmont region of northern Italy.

I got these Zegna sneakers from my dear friends MYTHERESA MEN, the luxury shopping platform. It is a model of My Claudio low-top sneakers made of leather and material details in a combination of brown and black. These shoes are from the spring-summer collection, but because of the palette of brown and black shades, I think they can also fit nicely with warm autumn tones.

My dear fashionistas, today I have a special educational fashion story for you that will surely intrigue you and make you think about the news in the world of fur fashion. Fur, a natural material that has been loved and appreciated for centuries, as from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages. From material that was used only to provide warm coverage it has grown into a landmark of aristocracy and nobility. Prominent merchants, respectable people, and even some distinguished members of the royal families were great fans of fur.

It has been in the fashion spotlight for centuries, but for the last few years, we have been wondering, will the use of this precious material come to an end? Is the fur industry really an environmental problem?

The mink coat has always been a symbol of luxury and elegance. Some of you may remember the advertising campaigns of the fashion house “Blackglama” with the famous slogan – “How to become a legend“. During the 20th and 21st centuries, there is no famous person from the world of entertainment, such as divas like Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Greys Kelly, Beth Davis, Judy Garland, Barbara Streisand, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga and even Anna Wintour who did not like to wear fur. Over the last decade different societies fought for animal rights and almost killed the fur industry.

Obviously, there are many pros and cons on this topic, but it at least deserves an open discussion, which never happened because all doors were suddenly closed for natural fur worldwide. Nowadays some things in the fashion world have changed and fur is back! Now we have new possibilities that have been provided by the International Fur Federation that should satisfy both sides, fur and animal friends. Fake fur cannot compare with natural fur’s beauty, quality and durability.

The fur industry has been challenged in recent years over animal procurement and welfare practices. Long before the proposed law on work in the fur industry, the fur industry itself worked diligently to ensure that it adhered to the highest standards of animal welfare. Today’s consumers demand to know more about what they are buying. Transparency is an expectation in the food they eat to the clothes they wear. There is a growing demand for sustainability, healthier choices and the need for a clear understanding of the supply chain behind the products they buy. The global fur market, despite all the adversity, has grown 40% in the last 15 years.

In order to not only combat all the adversity, but also to change the perceptions of wearing fur, the International Fur Federation has developed a formal certification and traceability process, Furmark®. Fur is one of the most sustainable natural products in the world of fashion. The use of organic materials is a complete contrast and rejection of fast and plastic fashion, which are typically oil derivatives. Fur epitomises slow fashion; it is treated as a purchase of heritage and lasts for generations.

At New York Fashion Week 2022, the world had the opportunity to see the incredible collection of Victor Glemaud, who paid tribute to the exceptional black culture and black history. The idea of natural shapes and cuts has resulted in amazing fur pieces reminiscent of 60s fur coats that are bound to become timeless classics. Beauty and simplicity are the qualities of luxury that Victor Glemaud has proven with his amazing new collection.

Mr.Glemaud pointed out some of the advantages and benefits he had during the creation of the collection in cooperation with the Pologeorgis, one of the first manufacturers to join Furmark® and to adopt it in practice. Victor Glemaud emphasized the importance of tracking and certification of fur, which gives additional peace of mind to customers when buying fur, because customers purchasing his designs can be sure of the origin of their fur.

Furmark® is true proof that fashion can be slow, real and personal. In addition to a sense of security, you know your piece is handcrafted.

Customers want to know and be sure that animal welfare is a priority. Therefore, Furmark® is based on scientific evidence, with full independent inspections to ensure that the highest standards are applied. Inspectors examine in detail all aspects of the farm – from food, water and daily care of the animal’s life. Wild fur is only allowed from conservation programs – all of which are run under strict guidelines.

The International Fur Federation has 56 members in over 40 countries around the world. The members of the federation are all actors in the fur industry, including farmers, producers, brokers, auction houses, retailers and designers. Each of these members have signed a strict code of conduct that obliges them to comply with laws relevant to the fur industry in their home countries.

The International Fur Federation is an organization founded more than 50 years ago and is the only organization that represents the international fur industry and regulates its practice and trade. The Federation aims to promote the fur business, establish certification and traceability programs for welfare and the environment, as well as support young designers and small traders who intend to develop in the fashion and fur industry.

The Furmark® certification system was developed by the International Fur Federation (IFF) with associate members, who are eminent representatives of luxury brands, all of whom work with natural fur as part of the supply chain. There are three key principles on which this certification is based: science, independent inspection and transparency.

All Furmark® certificates must also be verified by third parties, while being publicly available and at the same time maintaining pre-agreed standards of sustainability, relevance, availability and traceability set from the outset. Leading industry experts have teamed up to develop a solution for the manufacturing and retail industries in the sector.

Including ChainPoint traceability technology, Furmark® is able to provide full integration and constant transparency throughout the supply chain that benefits manufacturers, retailers and consumers. All Furmark® marks are explicitly linked to individual products and stocks, allowing all distribution to be strictly controlled and monitored, which in turn helps protect and preserve the integrity of the certification system.

Furmark® is a comprehensive global certification and a system for monitoring the natural fur production chain that guarantees animal welfare and compliance with all environmental standards. The Furmark certification system includes only wild and farmed natural fur on farms from leading animal protection programs (including the first animal welfare program introduced on the basis of the European Commission ‘s data on self – regulation and Co-regulatory initiatives).

What does Furmark® mean in practice? Consumers desire Furmark®, and this was shown in an extensive consumer opinion survey conducted by the International Fur Federation in 2021. It was found that 70% of customers in 5 key markets (France, Italy, Spain, UK and USA) were willing to buy fur, and from these, 65% had a positive initial opinion of the Furmark® system. Of these, 28% of participants said they would consider purchasing a product that includes natural fur if it is Furmark® certified.

Therefore, Furmark® certified products have the potential to increase sales by more than 400%. Furmark® enables sales with complete confidence and the knowledge that quality and safety is met at every level.

Strict, active application is ensured by regular visits and assessments: those who do not meet the standards will be excluded from the certification program and the Furmark® system.
