Dear my fashionistas and travelers, welcome to the new fashion adventure on Mr.M blog! I know you love my travel stories, so despite the bad weather in the Lithuanian capital, I tried to make at least one fashion story.

I must be honest that I looked at the weather forecast several times before the trip to Lithuania, but I sincerely hoped that the weather would improve at least at some point during my stay in the heart of Lithuania, but all hopes sank with rain that did not stop falling… The highlight of this trip is that I “caught” a period of less than an hour to take pictures of my outfit.

Today’s outfit will be a combination of new pieces and some old ones that were dear to you and loved on the blog, so I hope we will remind you of some interesting brands that you liked to see on the Mr.M blog.

Since the weather in Lithuania was more similar to autumn – early winter in Germany, I decided it was safer to bring a winter jacket. We survived various rains and snows, but here we are still hanging out.

Today’s fashion story will be dedicated to timeless fashion detail – stripes, a print that has returned to the big doors of this fashion season, as evidenced by the new collections of all famous well-known fashion houses that have decorated some of their clothes, accessories and footwear with iconic detail – stripes.

Today’s fashion story stands out from the others we experienced together this season because we are going on a real exotic fashion safari to far away Sri Lanka with my friends from the Italian fashion house Loro Piana and the Swiss watch brand Certina.

When we think of safaris, we all imagine light linen jackets with 4 pockets, which in the fashion world are defined as “Safari Field Jackets”, which are indispensable in the collections of all famous brands every spring/summer collection. There is no brand that has not made this jacket in any of its versions, but only one world Italian brand has managed to make a timeless iconic classic – Loro Piana.

My dear fashionistas, today we continue our fashion adventures and I present to you the outfit that you had the opportunity to see in the previous post where we talked about some news in the fur industry. To talk about the future, we need to know how the foundations were laid and how fur has been valued over the centuries. Fur, a natural material that has been loved and appreciated for centuries, from the Stone Age through the Middle Ages until today. From a material used only to keep people warm, over time it has grown into a status symbol and symbol of the aristocracy and nobility. Prominent merchants, esteemed people, and even some prominent members of the royal family were great lovers of fur.

Fur has been valued and respected for centuries, but in recent years things have changed and some new questions are being asked. Has the use of this precious material in the world of fashion come to an end? Is the fur industry really an environmental problem?

Let’s go back in history and see how it really was… In the Stone Age, people wore fur and leather every day as a basic necessity of life. Throughout history, the approach to fur has changed significantly and it has become an inevitable part of the royal family and a sign of wealth.

Marie Antoinette and her spouse Louis XVI experienced great humiliation. The queen has been repeatedly described as frivolous, selfish and immoral because of her lavish lifestyle. However, she was a fashion icon of that time and a large part of her “fashion kingdom” was made of precious fur. Her husband did not lag behind in his passion for fur. Yes, you read that right, men have been big fur lovers throughout history. Louis XVI adored his fur coats and cloaks, and even liked to use fur as additional fashion details on his shoes.

What has changed so far in the attitudes regarding the use of fur in the fashion world in the eyes of the public? Obviously, there are many advantages and disadvantages on this topic, but at least it deserves an open discussion, which never happened because all the doors for natural fur suddenly closed all over the world. Today, some things in the fashion world have changed and fur is back on the big door! We now have new opportunities provided by the International Fur Federation to satisfy both parties, the fur industry and animal friends. Eco fur cannot be compared to natural fur in beauty, quality and durability.

In recent years, the fur industry has been exposed to the challenges of procuring animals in strict compliance with all practices and laws on animal welfare and environmental protection. Long before the proposed law on work in the fur industry, the fur industry itself worked diligently to adhere to the highest standards of animal welfare. Today’s customers demand to know more about what they are buying.

In order to not only combat all the adversity, but also to change the perceptions of wearing fur, the International Fur Federation has developed a formal certification and traceability process, Furmark®. Fur is one of the most sustainable natural products in the world of fashion. The use of organic materials is a complete contrast and rejection of fast and plastic fashion, which are typically oil derivatives. Fur epitomises slow fashion; it is treated as a purchase of heritage and lasts for generations.

The International Fur Federation has 56 members in over 40 countries around the world. The members of the federation are all actors in the fur industry, including farmers, producers, brokers, auction houses, retailers and designers. Each of these members have signed a strict code of conduct that obliges them to comply with laws relevant to the fur industry in their home countries.

The International Fur Federation is an organization founded more than 50 years ago and is the only organization that represents the international fur industry and regulates its practice and trade. The Federation aims to promote the fur business, establish certification and traceability programs for welfare and the environment, as well as support young designers and small traders who intend to develop in the fashion and fur industry.

The Furmark® certification system was developed by the International Fur Federation (IFF) with associate members, who are eminent representatives of luxury brands, all of whom work with natural fur as part of the supply chain. There are three key principles on which this certification is based: science, independent inspection and transparency.

Furmark® is a comprehensive global certification and a system for monitoring the natural fur production chain that guarantees animal welfare and compliance with all environmental standards. The Furmark certification system includes only wild and farmed natural fur on farms from leading animal protection programs (including the first animal welfare program introduced on the basis of the European Commission ‘s data on self – regulation and Co-regulatory initiatives).

When was the idea for this brand of sports watches born? Brothers Adolf and Alfred Kurt founded their own watch factory in the Swiss city of Grenchen. In this idyllic place at the foot of Jura Mountain between Solothurn and Bila, the brothers and their team of only three employees developed a brand within their family home. In a short time, they achieved great success and the Kurt brothers opened a factory and employed a large number of workers.

A few years later, in 1906 to be precise, the Kurt brothers presented a brand for their watches: “Grana”, abbreviated to “Granakus”, the Latin name Grenchen. There is no person in the world who can just hide the joy when you feel the smell of the new Italian leather.
