Dear my fashionistas, welcome to another new fashion adventure on the Mr.M blog. Today we will continue our story about the Canadian brand HiSO, except that today’s outfit will be in a more elegant edition, because I replaced my jeans with iconic formal classic trousers. Prepare your favorite snacks and some hot beverages and our “5 minutes” for Fashionable Friday can begin!

HiSO, formally known as the Hide Society, is a brand that possesses all Canadian characteristics to the core. Bearing in mind sustainability and fashion development, they have been successfully making luxury winter outerwear from alpaca, wool and shearlings for decades. Every step in creating their master-pieces, the HiSO brand takes an environmentally conscious approach when creating its products. Originally founded in Toronto’s Fashion District, the brand has grown from a small family boutique to an internationally recognized outerwear brand.

HiSO is one of the most renowned Canadian luxury winter outerwear brands. Due to the extremely difficult climatic conditions, the professional team of this brand is here to overcome all weather conditions and to design and adapt winter pieces that you will love. What is the secret to the success of this brand?

All processes from procurement and design to final production, HiSO controls every step of the creative and production process, which makes this brand special. HiSO was formerly known as the Hide Society, which has become synonymous with the art and luxury of jackets and coats since 1975, a nearly half-century-long tradition. Impressive, isn’t it?

The family company, which is currently successfully run by the second generation, was founded in Canada. HiSO provides top quality and design in every one of its garments, which is woven with 45 years of experience that can be felt in every detail. Headquartered in Toronto, with special offices in Berlin and a production facility in Poland, HiSO soon became the world’s leading manufacturer of shearlings.

Exactly 20 years ago, in 2002, inspired by their efforts and building a family business from an early age, twin brothers Karl and Mark took over the company’s leadership with a new mission – to reposition and raise the brand to the world market, introducing a new name HiSO.

Their goal was to revive the classic vision of coats and jackets where they will combine fashion with the functionality of everyday life. Their vision brought completely new innovative designs while still retaining the luxurious materials leather, fur and precious fabrics of exceptional quality by which this brand is recognizable.

With the great desire to expand the range of products, the rebranding has led to the spread of precious fabrics (cashmere, wool and alpaca). HiSO bought a factory in Toronto, where all clothes made of precious fibers are now produced. Shearlings are still produced at HiSO’s European factory in Poland.

Soon after the transformation of the brand, HiSO became a favorite global name known for its Black Label division, which is focused on new markets.

In the fall of 2020, new inspiration emerged. Based on the achieved results, which was built on success with the HiSO Black Label, the White Label was born! Following the modern market of luxury and prestige, the White Label collection “dazzles” all fashion lovers with their designs who cannot satisfy their appetites for new fashion trends.

HiSO is one of the few brands that is actively engaged in an ecological approach to sustainable fashion through every step of creating their own garments. Whether alpaca, cashmere, wool or shearlings, HiSO works exclusively with environmentally conscious companies, providing the best methods and materials used to protect the environment.

HiSO leather and fur are of ethical origin, because they are a by-product of the food industry. Using this product essentially restores materials that would otherwise be disposed of and thus create waste. Leather and fur for shearlings are natural materials obtained from tanners that support sustainability according to international standards that regulate by-products of animal origin from their origin to the moment when they are produced for final-end use.

Respect for and maintenance of the vision of common values is maintained by HiSO through cooperation with suppliers who have similar views on the importance of sustainability. The benefits of this cooperation include: respect for the right to clean water, energy, energy management and reduced emissions and recycling.

HiSO’s Tennant shearling jacket that you have the opportunity to see in today’s post is made of the highest quality leather and fur with the addition of fox fur on the collar. When buying your HiSO garment, you can always contact their team who will be at your disposal and help you choose the ideal piece for yourself or your loved one. Also, this brand offers custom-made winter jackets and coats, so you can provide yourself with a piece that will suit you. In addition, you can choose the type of material (leather or material) as well as the type of fur and color. HiSO is a brand that strives to fulfill all the needs and desires of customers in the right way and to be a part of the HiSO family with pleasure.

Today we are also continuing our fashion adventure with one well-known Swiss watch brand. Certina watches are known for their precision, reliability and sporty character. The sports watch brand has built an international reputation for quality Swiss workmanship, during its long history, which is more than 130 years long.

When was the idea for this brand of sports watches born? Brothers Adolf and Alfred Kurt founded their own watch factory in the Swiss city of Grenchen. In this idyllic place at the foot of Jura Mountain between Solothurn and Bila, the brothers and their team of only three employees developed a brand within their family home. In a short time, they achieved great success and the Kurt brothers opened a factory and employed a large number of workers.

A few years later, in 1906 to be precise, the Kurt brothers presented a brand for their watches: “Grana”, abbreviated to “Granakus”, the Latin name Grenchen. The quality of these watches was immediately recognized and won several awards. In the 1920s, Alfred Kurt’s sons Erwin and Hans joined the company and led it through difficult times of the Great Depression, known as the Great Depression.

During the 1930s, the company increasingly used the new name Certina, for good reason: it is easily pronounced in all languages and is based on the Latin word “certus”, which means “sure”. The brand was officially registered in 1939, and in 1949 Certina was chosen to be the only official brand name.

Certina is a symbol of durability and longevity, which is why the mascot of the turtle armor brand symbolizes robustness and longevity – characteristics that all Certina watches, without exception, carry. Therefore, it is no wonder that turtle armor has been a personal symbol of the brand since the 1960s. To this day, the distinctive outline can still be found on almost every Certina watch, as well as on the brand logo. It evokes the exceptional endurance that characterizes every Certina watch.

At the end of the fifties, more precisely in 1959, the company presented the first Certina watch with the DS concept. Certina DS is an automatic watch that is extremely resistant to shocks with a water resistance of up to 20 bar (200 meters). This sets new standards for the entire generation of watches.

Today, after 60 years, Certina DS Jubile adorns my hand. It is an unusual feeling when one such brand with unique watch designs is my new partner in my adventures.

The watch you have the opportunity to see in today’s post is the DS Jubile model, which exists in two versions, the basic one with a steel bracelet and the other with a leather bracelet.

This watch combines precious materials with maximum precision. This elegant men’s watch is equipped with an 18K yellow gold frame. It is powered by an innovative PrecidriveTM quartz movement, whose precision and reliability are confirmed by COSC. The clock has a date display. The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and stainless steel case make this watch durable and robust: the watch can withstand water pressures up to 10 ATM. Illuminated hands contrast with the background and thus always provide the best readability. The stainless steel bracelet, which is attached to the wrist together with the button, makes this model from Certina impressive!

My dear fashionistas, we have reached the end of this special post where we discovered the beauty of fashionable winter together with Canadian outerwear brand HiSO and iconic Swiss watch brand Certina and I hope you got the inspiration for your perfect winter outfit! We will continue our fashion adventures on the Mr.M blog soon! How did you like my outfit today?

I really tried to prepare today’s post for you with a lot of love and I hope you will like it!

I advise you to listen to my advice due to the current health situation with the new strain of Omicron Coronavirus in almost all European and countries around the world. If you need to go out into the fresh air, take a walk and clear your mind and enjoy the winter magic, feel free to do so, but do not go to places where there are a lot of people and thus encourage crowds.

If you have been fully vaccinated (2 vaccine doses or 3rd booster dose) you need to wear a mask for your own safety. If you are going to spend the winter in European cities, I would ask you to respect and follow the local laws related to the health care of the local community.

If you have a question, comment, suggestion or message for me, you can write me down in the comments. Of course, as always you can contact me via mail or social media channels, which you can find on the CONTACT page. See you soon, stay tuned!

With Love,
Mr.M

Marko, you are very beautiful in this post. I wonder if there is a possibility to order this shearling jacket in some other type of leather and change the color? What is the approximate price of your jacket, if you can tell me. Thank you so much for your reply, I look forward to your future winter fashion stories! Thomas

Super Post! Die Jacke ist sehr schön, aber Uhren bevorzuge ich trotzdem. Kann man Certina Uhr irgendwo in Berlin anprobieren?
