Red is the new Autumn color…

My dear fashionistas, how are you today? Did you drink your first morning coffee and manage to find energy for a new day? I have to admit that I have been diligent since the early morning and have decided to be productive and complete some commitments to prepare for a little getaway holiday.

I’m sure most of you have already noticed on TV and in magazines that this year’s fashion trends have changed a bit, so some cheerful and more luxurious color palettes have entered the fashion scene. Of course, this fall and winter, the emphasis is on neutral, pastel and earthy tones, but fashion experts advise that you need to have some pieces of clothing that will “break” that fashion neutrality and make your fashion combination unique.

In previous posts, I have revealed to you some of the latest fashion trends this Autumn – Winter season and that the basic colors will be primarily from neutral color palettes: beige, white, brown and red. Of course, as every winter, there are warm shades of caramel color, without which it is simply unthinkable to imagine a winter outfit.

I believe that each of you has a camel color coat in your wardrobe, but this year you can spice up that monotony of colors with small details of brighter and more impressive shades of red.

In today’s post, the focus will be on red and all those wonderful shades that we can find in her gorgeous palette. Let’s paint this fall red because people don’t say in vain: “Red is the color of joy and happiness!”.

The powerful and luxurious red color has occupied a sublime position for centuries, and it was even a part of several cultures, arts and, of course, today’s fashion world. Red simply possesses this unusual power to turn a simple fashion piece into an iconic fashion sensation that you simply must have in your wardrobe.

After a short break, this color returned to the big door and shattered all myths and prejudices about how this is the ideal color for the summer period. I’m sure some of you have a red sweater, scarf or beautiful knitted red gloves. My most sincere advice for this fashion season: “Take them out, the time has come!”

This season, red has also served as a perfect inspiration for autumn and winter, where different shades of red are combined, with the combination of materials with different materials and prints. You need to have one red roll in your closet and that will be enough for an elegant day piece that you will be able to fit perfectly for everyday and business combinations, as well as for those slightly more formal occasions.

My clothing combination today met all the fashion criteria this season:

– Brown and earth shades – CHECKED!
– Fashion details in red color – CHECKED!
– Simple cuts and style that follow the silhouette of the body – CHECKED!

As for the my live “fashion detector”, I passed the first base, and this was confirmed by a friend of mine who works in the editorial German office of one international fashion magazine, who was also amazed with these photos.

She is always full of various ideas, but we will see, due to the current Covid-19 situation, how she will develop those ideas, whether she will be able to realize some unusual fashion editorials with me these weeks! Believe me, I am super happy! 🙂

Let’s start with the statement fashion pieces in today’s post. Jacket, I believe you have noticed it so far during this fall season on my blog. Morris has become my new best friend for these windy and cold autumn days in Berlin. It is nice for him when we walk, it is comfortable and warm for me, so we found some common interests.

If you are interested to see how I combined the MooRER Morris jacket model with some other colors and styles, take a look at these fashion stories: link 1 and link 2.

All the impressive knitwear pieces that you have the opportunity to see in today’s post are the result of the dedicated work of the expert Johnstons of Elgin team who tried to make me covered this fall with their exceptional pieces of wool and cashmere.

In addition to a comfortable and warm jacket during the winter, it is necessary to have a soft sweater that will make your winter more interesting. Classic men’s turtleneck sweater knitted in simple handwork, better known as “light fishing rib”. Almost every wardrobe needs one turtleneck sweater like this, which you can wear under a suit or jacket, or if the weather conditions are stable, you can only wear just this Dolcevita kind of sweater.

This Johnstons of Elgin ribbed turtleneck sweater is made of 100% cashmere, which is responsible for its exceptional softness and warmth. You can wear this rollneck on classic pants and an elegant jacket, as I showed you in today’s post, or you can wear it with jeans for some everyday casual occasions. In some of the following posts, I will show you how you can wear this incredible turtleneck sweater with jeans.

Classic red cashmere scarf

How to recognize a quality cashmere scarf? Quality cashmere scarf is woven from the finest cashmere fibers, hand-combed. The cashmere scarf is known for its extreme softness, warmth and smoothness, making it the perfect accessory for any occasion.

A quality cashmere scarf has a good cashmere yarn finish. The unique finish of the scarf is achieved only by the cumulative effect of years of production craft and knowledge, using natural, hand-crafted materials.

You can personalize Johnstons of Elgin scarves and thus give yourself or you beloved ones a unique new experience.

During Autumn, when the weather conditions are not stable and when occasional or more intense rainfall is present every day. When it rains, there are two types of people: those who are ready and take their umbrella out of the bag, and the other type of person who continues without an umbrella or seeks temporary shelter until the weather gets a little better.

Francesco Maglia is known for high-quality umbrellas from Italy, which this family company has been producing for more than 160 years. Customers from all over the world are excited about the design and quality of the products. Quality, passion and expertise are the basic characteristics due to which many have placed their trust in this unusual brand of umbrellas.

If you also knew a little more interesting facts and history of this brand, I believe that everyone would want at least one Francesco Maglia umbrella.

Francesco Maglia is a family Italian brand of handmade umbrellas founded in 1854 by Francesco Maglia. Francesco started working as an umbrella manufacturer in 1850 and after 4 years of working as an apprentice he decided to start his own umbrella making workshop.

At that time, umbrellas were a commodity of great value and prestige, which caused a great demand for the opening of new workshops and factories for making umbrellas. Today, the company is run by Francesco Maglia, a gentleman who represents the sixth generation of the successful Maglia family.

I am a person who attaches importance to details and I love fashion accessories such as umbrellas, watches and small leather goods and accessories.

My advice for all those who are just entering the world of high quality umbrellas to choose a beautiful folding umbrella to begin with. Such umbrellas are extremely appreciative and practical, both for everyday needs and for travel as well. They are easy to pack and there is always room in the suitcase for one folding umbrella.

Francesco Maglia is an Italian brand that will not let you down and their umbrellas can be used for generations because they are made of extremely high quality materials.

The interesting facts about my umbrella, which you can see in today’s post, is that it is made of the highest quality 100% colored polyester and the fabric is made with the help of a loom used for ties. The handle and strings of the umbrella are made of steel, while the handle is made of the finest Italian chestnut.

Another term that we all like to mention during the fall is fashion layering. When we talk about this concept, he is always a welcome guest on the fashion scene, he has his own special fashion trend in the world.

One of the basic ideas of this fashion trend is to give freedom and opportunities to use your fashion knowledge and create interesting and unique fashion combinations with you imagination.

The layered way of dressing is very practical, especially at the beginning of autumn when the mornings are cool, and during the day it is getting warmer, which requires us to take off the upper layers of clothes. Of course, depending on the purpose of your dress occasion and the outside temperature, you can always remove and add layers, and this is a great opportunity to show your fashion skills and creativity.

This trend is extremely popular on the streets of Berlin and lasts until mid or late November depending on the weather, as Berlin is unpredictable when it comes to weather!

Autumn Charm of Berlin

Good morning my dear fashionistas, welcome to my new post. I sincerely hope that you are well and take care of yourself, but I also believe that you are ready for a new fashion story about Berlin. In one of the previous posts I mentioned that autumn is one of the most inspiring seasons.

I believe you must be wondering why this is so? All those magical shades of “gold” and brown that autumn brings with it, this season really has its own special charm and charm. Is it because of that famous sound of rustling dry leaves as we pass through the park or because of comfortable sweaters without which autumn is simply unimaginable.

I adore autumn in Berlin because then the streets smell of apple and cinnamon cakes, which are symbols of German autumn and winter seasons. In addition to these cakes, there are many other delicacies that smiling sellers bring up for sale in their beautifully stalls – houses that mean only one thing – the New Year is coming!

Berlin is not made up of museums, open-air sculptures and walls, but people and some small things and little things that make gloomy everyday life more interesting. Berlin is a city of exceptional scents, you can smell the famous “wursts” – sausages, but I always remember Berlin by the smell of apples and cinnamon, especially when autumn comes.

My co-workers adore Berlin during the fall because the city is turning into a real catwalk, filled with the warmest tones of green, burgundy and brown, as my friend would say “In a beautiful city like Berlin, all colors look so good!”. Autumn in Berlin is exciting and just awakens in you the feeling that you have to peek into the most beautiful streets and corners of the city…

Autumn is the period of the year when everything somehow put back in its place. The Corona virus had a great influence on the course of this year, but I notice that peace returned to Berlin in the Fall. Again, I see older people on the streets buying cakes and sweet syrups to make sweet delicacies.

What about fashion? Has anything changed this fall in the famous Berlin street fashion? Nothing has changed, people have found new strength and are trying to think positive as much as possible about the current situation. I noticed that this year will also be “colored” with brown and neutral tones such as white, beige and taupe.

Looks like I’m finally going to be in trend this year! I waited for my five minutes of fame!

Since my wardrobe is open room concept and I have an easier opportunity to visually fit clothing, accessories and footwear this time I saw some unusual connection between the MooRER jacket that you had the opportunity to see in one of the previous fashion stories and this incredible boots – link.

The boots that served as my inspiration for today’s outfit were handmade in the workshop of the famous British shoemaker Joseph Cheaney, who in collaboration with Johnstons of Elgin made a special collection of boots.

It was a great pleasure for me to walk these unusual boots that have a palette of colors that are current this winter: dark brown, taupe and cognac.

I believe that there is no man or woman who does not have more pairs of jeans of different cuts in their wardrobe that help us always feel better! 🙂

That’s why I decided to combine jeans with these slightly more classic pieces, in order to find some kind of fashion balance. Honestly, I am a huge fan of classic men’s fashion, but since I wanted my outfit to serve as inspiration for some of your outfits, I decided to offer you this way of urban, street classic elegance as well.

Morris (MooRER) was my best friend this time as well, so it was not so cold during the shooting of this outfit. Once again, I was convinced that it is extremely important for the jacket to be light and practical, and on the other hand comfortable and warm, such as MooRER jackets for cold autumn and winter days in Northern Germany.

In addition to a good jacket, each of us prepares knitwear for the winter. Modern classics for your wardrobe are Johnstons of Elgin sweaters. Intricately woven sweaters in Scottish mills, such as this cashmere sweater that has everything you need to spend this winter with style.

Johnstons of Elgin: A Fairy tale about timeless and refined pieces of cashmere from Scotland

Good morning dear my fashionistas and welcome to another new fashion adventure on Mr.M blog. Today’s story will be different from all the previous ones because we will learn a little more about a brand that has kept its tradition for over 200 years.

I advise you to prepare your favorite snack and hot or cold drink and enjoy today’s post. Let’s begin!

The Johnstons of Elgin mill was founded back in 1797 and interesting information is that the same mill is still used today for the production of cashmere clothes. The original factory produced linen, flax, oatmeal and tobacco, but Alexander Johnston, its founder, began processing textiles and discontinued production of the original product.

Johnstons of Elgin pioneered the use of tweed for camouflage, and the style became world-famous as Scottish Estate tweeds. The Johnstons’ mill performs dyeing, spinning, weaving and finishing processes in one place thus making it the only vertical mill in Scotland.

Modern Johnstons of Elgin mills use cashmere from China and Mongolia and lamb wool from distant Australia. The company has five retail locations in the UK (Edinburgh, Elgin, Hawick, London and St. Andrews). Of course, in addition to stores in the UK, Johnsons of Elgin has a well-developed sales network around the world, so you can buy these timeless pieces of cashmere and wool around the world and through their official online store – johnstonsofelgin.com.

Johnstons of Elgin product quality is also recognized by the British Royal Family and has a special Royal Warrant of Appointment. Royal appointments have been issued since the 15th century to those who supplied goods or services to the royal court or to certain members of the royal family. The order allows the supplier to advertise the fact that it supplies the royal family, thus giving the brand prestige itself.

Did you know that there are about 30 different processes involved in turning raw fibers into luxury Johnstons of Elgin finished products made from the finest wool and refined cashmere?

Their production of cashmere, merino wool, lamb wool and vicuña is the work of craftsmen based on centuries of constant innovation. The professional masters are proud of every thread, every weave, every yarn and every stitch, from the raw fibers in the mill to the perfect clothes on the shelves in the stores.

From dyeing to blending, carding to spinning, warping when weaving, knitting to teasing and cutting to folding – it all happens in their mills in the heart of Scotland.

Now I will try to describe to you in the most picturesque way what the process of preparing the yarn and processing in the mills looks like until the final product you see on the shelf in the store. The process is a bit long, but it is interesting and creative and involves a team of experts who even pass on their love for wool and cashmere to younger generations.

The whole process of making Johnstons of Elgin products can be divided into the following stages:

1. Fiber dyeing process
2. Mixing fibers (blending) and carding, preparing fibers for combing
3. Combing and spinning fibers process
4. Weaving process
6. Knitting process
7. Finishing the product

There are four different, but equally effective ways of dyeing fibers: natural dyeing of fibers, when the color changes a little with the help of other fibers, the method of light dyeing and complete dyeing of fibers.

There are currently around 6,500 color shades in the Johnstons of Elgin range, ranging from gentle subtle neutral shades to strong, vibrant color shades.

The process that follows after dyeing the fibers is the process of mixing and carding the fibers (professionally called the process of blending and carding the fibers).

Mixtures of materials can be made from different colors of the same fiber or from the same fiber or from different types of fibers, for example cashmere and merino wool or cashmere and silk.

After the fiber is professionally blended into the dye or into a sumptuous blend of fibers, it is fed into a carding machine that works like a giant comb to straighten the fibers in the spinning preparation process.

In the process of spinning fibers, fiber is prepared for spinning, ie fiber is prepared to be successfully transformed into yarn. The Spinning process twists the fibers to give them strength and prepare them for weaving.

The yarn is expertly checked manually at regular intervals during the pre-spinning and spinning process to ensure that it has an even consistency.

The weaving process begins with the setting of the basic pattern. The base consists of threads that run vertically from the top to the bottom of the canvas. The number of threads basically varies depending on the fineness of the yarn and the density and width of the required fabric.

Weaving is the introduction of a warp warp, a thread that runs horizontally across the canvas. The color, pattern and design of the weave are determined in advance by the team of designers. There are two different types of looms in Johnstons of Elgin: Dobby and Jacquard looms. Dobby looms weave simpler signed styles of squares, checks and stripes, while Jacquard looms can create much more complicated patterns.

The Johnstons of Elgin knitwear is completely fashionable, which means that each piece is knitted in a shape to best fit. Ribbed ornaments, cuffs, collars, holes, pockets are first knitted on specialized machines.

They are then transferred to the main frames that knit the front part, the back part and the sleeves. At this stage, colors, textures and patterns are processed in the clothes themselves. Then the clothes are carefully washed and ground, using water from the river Teviot. In the end, all the collars are connected with clothes and buttons, holes and additional decorations are added.

When the fabric is done, its appearance is a bit rough. There are many processes involved in turning a fabric into a luxury finished product, many of which have remained unchanged for hundreds of years.

Johnstons of Elgin
uses the softest, natural Scottish water to purify the fabric, ensuring that it gently returns to its natural, super-soft state.

Cleaning removes the oil that is applied to protect the fibers during the production process, while milling reduces and thickens the fabric. After wet finishing, the fabric is dried by rolling over in a twisting machine.

Depending on the end use of the fabric, further finishing processes are performed, such as cutting, lifting and pressing before the final finish. Whether it is gloves, a scarf, a sweater or a fabric for further processing, each piece is made with quality that can be worn for generations.

This brand left a strong impression on me and this season we will have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of their products from the new Autumn – Winter 2020/21 collection together. I will soon be preparing for a trip to Scotland to visit their mills and see for myself their tradition. Who knows, maybe I will be able to make a sweater! Wish me luck!

Of course, I also completed this outfit with MooRER jeans and sneakers that you saw in the previous post. I like these clothing combinations the most, which can be described with two simple words: “urban elegance”.
