Tod’s: Story of An Elegant Fashion Icon of Made-In-Italy…

My dear fashionistas, welcome to a new fashion adventure on the Mr.M blog. Today’s fashion story from far distant China will be dedicated to the Italian brand Tod’s, which we had the opportunity to get to know better during the previous years on the Mr.M blog.

What have we learned so far about this extraordinary fashion brand? Tod’s is a brand considered the pioneer of Italian design, Tod’s embraces a lifestyle that has always been associated with timeless iconic elegance with superior quality. A way of life that is connected to the concept of the Italian way of life, good taste and “savoir vivre” – the art of living life.

Tod’s is a worldwide synonym for iconic elegance and refined style, the brand has for years created true style icons of contemporary luxury through its collections of footwear and leather goods for men and women. Each product is made using traditional and modern techniques of superior Italian craftsmanship, creating exceptional items that are the object of “fashion lust” of all fashion lovers from all over the world.

Tod’s S.p.A. is a company specializing in the production of footwear, clothing and fashion accessories with its brands Tod’s, Hogan, Fay and Roger Vivier. This fashion story is the result of the work and effort of the Della Valle family.

This fashion journey began at the beginning of the 20th century when Filippo Della Valle, a shoemaker with extraordinary ideas and visions, made shoes in his kitchen – a home craft. After some time and effort and work, Mr. Della Valle opens his shoe shop.

At the end of the sixties, his son Dorino founded, with the help of his wife, the first artisan factory in Sant’Elpidio a Mare. The whole concept was developed with the sale of women’s shoes in Germany and in department stores across America.

In the 1970s, Dorino’s son Diego joined the company. Despite his great love for the United States, Diego returns to Italy with the idea of creating an innovative product with a brand name. At the beginning of the eighties, he got his chance and became the director of the family company, opening an office in Milan in 1980, creating the brand for women’s shoes “Diego Della Valle”, managing to convince some fashion designers of the time to wear them for free on models in fashion shows.

The Tod’s Group is known for its national and international socially responsible projects of sustainable development. One of the most famous projects is “Tod’s for the Colosseum” – the restoration of the Colosseum, a symbol of Italian history.

The intervention plan for the restoration of the Colosseum is a project commissioned by the Delegate Commissioner for the Archaeological Areas of Rome and Ostia Antica, in collaboration with the Special Group for the Protection of the Colosseum and the Archaeological Area of Rome, and was implemented thanks to the selfless support of Tod’s Group. The first phase of the works has been completed and included the renovation of the northern and southern facades, with an area of about 13,300 square meters and the replacement of the closing system of the arches with the construction of new gates.

The renovation plan will continue with the renovation of the basement of the Colosseum, the standardization and implementation of the system and the construction of a service center that enables the execution of additional support activities for visitors to this cultural monument.

The second phase of the works, which began in December 2018, under the leadership of the new autonomous institute Parco Archeologico del Colosseo, included the area of the hypogea, a “monument within a monument” a kind of amphitheater that is located below the arena and was invisible to spectators in ancient times . More than 80 people participated in the restoration work, including archaeologists, restorers, architects, engineers and other experts. At the end of the works, a 160-meter-long promenade was installed, accessible to all visitors, which gave visitors the opportunity to see a hitherto unexplored part of the Colosseum that was not feasible before.

Zegna is an Italian luxury fashion house. It was founded by Ermenegildo Zegna in 1910 in Trivero, Biella in the Piedmont region of northern Italy.

Today I will share with you my last fashion adventure from Jordan, the photos are made in the Dead Sea area and I would like to thank the Visit Jordan for the kind invitation and the amazing experience to get to know Jordanian culture and customs.

Today I will share with you my fashionable adventure in Petra and I would like to thank the Visit Jordan for the kind invitation and the amazing experience to get to know Jordanian culture and customs.

Today’s post will be dedicated to an Italian iconic fashion house that we have been friends with on the Mr.M blog for several years and I have presented you with my favorite pieces from different seasons, but today I will try to bring you closer and better explain some details about this brand that radiates refinement and classic, true Italian elegance – Loro Piana.

The Loro Piana brand is special because their marketing activities are different from other current fashion brands on the market. Loro Piana is a cult brand, which exclusively cherishes the principles of minimalist refined elegance and unobtrusiveness. Their promotional campaigns are in line with the mission and vision of the brand because Loro Piana is a recognizable brand in itself with an extremely large customer base and this brand does not carry out classic marketing promotional campaigns.

All campaigns are carried out with carefully selected brand ambassadors who are chosen on a long-term basis, and because of this, Mr.M readers have had the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Loro Piana pieces for several years and to learn some interesting information, but you have never read a more detailed story about to this eternal and iconic Italian fashion house.

What should we know about this extraordinary brand? Loro Piana is an Italian company specialised in clothing and textile products. This fashion house is considered the largest producer of cashmere and also the world’s largest artisanal company processing the luxury fiber.

The Loro Piana company has three divisions (textile divisions): a division that deals with the production of high-quality materials using precious fibers such as cashmere and baby cashmere, vicuna, linen and merino wool, a division that deals with the creation of luxury fashion items (production and distribution of men’s, women’s clothing, footwear and fashion accessories) and the interior design department – production and distribution of interior design products.

Originally from Trivero, the Loro Piana family started their family business in the wool trade at the beginning of the 19th century. In the second half of this century, the family moved its activities to Valsesia and founded the Fratelli Lora e Compagnia woolen mill, and then the Zignone & C. woolen mill in Quarona at the beginning of the 20th century. Engineer and founder of the Loro Piana brand, Mr. Pietro Loro Piana founded the company Loro Piana & C. in Quarona in 1924. Soon this company will celebrate its jubilee 100th anniversary of its existence and it will be an extraordinary celebration of the “first fashion century” of this extraordinary fashion house, which I am immensely looking forward to!

Mr. Franco Loro Piana (grandson of Mr. Pietro Loro Piana), after taking over the leadership of the company in the 1960s, started exporting high quality fabrics to Europe, America and Japan. He significantly expanded the markets in which Loro Piana began its new business ventures.

In the 1970s, Franco’s sons, Sergio and Pier Luigi Loro Piana, became actively involved in the company’s work, who believed that the most important focus was on the development of premium fabrics, including cashmere and extra fine wool. The research of the brothers Sergio and Pier Luigi gave birth to the famous Tasmanian fabric, a highly sought-after material in the world of fashion.

In the 1980s, Sergio and Pier Luigi Loro Piano began to diversify the business, launching their first ready-to-wear collection and establishing a luxury division. The domestic division was then launched in 2006. In 2013, the famous LVMH group bought 80% of the shares in the Loro Piana company and thus became the main shareholders. Unfortunately, Mr. Sergio Loro Piana died in the same year and the LVMH group acquired an additional 5% from the sale of shares, so that they currently own 85% of Loro Piana’s shares.

In today’s post, we are meeting again with the Italian brand Malo in a slightly different seaside landscape. Malo (word comes from the Latin ego mālō, meaning “I prefer”) is a famous Italian luxury brand of cashmere, which was launched exactly 50 years ago by the brothers Alfredo and Giacomo Canessa in 1972 in Florence. Fratelli Rossetti: Italian Elegance in the Kingdom of Time…

My dear fashionistas and travellers, welcome to the first special fashion story I prepared for you during my magical adventure in Jordan. Fashion stories will not follow the topics of the travelogue, so there will be, as always, separate topics where I will try to show you the beauty of Jordan through some other “fashion side”.

In today’s fashion story we will enjoy the beauty of sunset in Wadi Rum together with our new Italian friend Fratelli Rossetti. Before starting today’s post, I would like to thank the Jordan Tourism Board – Visit Jordan for the kind invitation and the amazing experience to get to know the culture and customs of Jordan better.

The topic of today’s fashion story will be a well-known Italian footwear brand that I’m sure is recognizable to everyone because of its comfortable shoes that are made of the highest quality materials. Fratelli Rossetti footwear is fantastic for the reason that this brand makes classic shoes that are elegant and simply iconic, shoes for all times!

What is the story of this brand? In the middle of the 20th century, more precisely in 1945, Mr. Renzo Rossetti started his story from scratch, where he worked alone to cut leather for several types of sports shoes. His shoes were sold at the famous Brigatti store in Milan, one of the few remaining stores of its kind in the city. After a few years, Fratelli Rossetti saw success, but, wanting to develop further, they transferred the brands and equipment for this special production to Atala Sport in Padua.

So they decided to start their story again from the beginning and decided to switch to the production of classic shoes. Those were the years between 1952 and 1957, which witnessed the orientation and acquisition of new skills in the creation of women’s ballet flats and elegant, simple men’s footwear characterized by extremely flexible and high-quality workmanship. All this led to the creation of a small collection of men’s shoes with contours that differed from the various styles sold at the time. Renzo Rossetti consequently engaged in work that demonstrated his aesthetic sense and artistic perfectionism.

The story of the Fratelli Rossetti company is an inspiring story of a successful Italian family business that opened its doors in 1953. This is not just an ordinary business story, but a family story: the founder, Renzo Rossetti, and his wife, Lisetta, were dedicated to their work all their lives.

The company Fratelli Rossetti is currently run by the second generation of the Rossetti family, the brothers Diego, Dario and Luca, who, due to their different roles and by developing their own different skills, have successfully brought their company to its 60th anniversary, always in search of quality and united by their passion with strict respect for tradition.

Diego joined the family business in 1978, dealing with the commercial aspects, especially the development of export markets and the expansion of the single brand retail network in Italy and abroad. Under his leadership, the Fratelli Rossetti company was the first Italian fashion brand to open a boutique on Madison Avenue in New York. Today he is the president of the company. In addition to a successful business career, Mr. Diego is intensely interested in photography and devotes a lot of time and attention to charitable activities.

Dario began working in the styling department in 1981, a natural progression from his art education and college courses in shoemaking. An art lover who collects antiques and a passionate collector of vintage cars, he enjoys visiting exhibitions and unusual markets, always looking for inspiration for new creations to enrich the new Fratelli Rossetti collections.

In the 1990s, even before graduating from Bocconi University in Milan, Luca was already involved in the management side of the business, constantly striving to make significant improvements to the company’s processes. Today, in the capacity of general director, he is particularly involved in marketing and collection development. He believes in constant training and innovation, necessary for the fashion sector if it wants to create new trends. Luca is a person who has a great love for travel and is also an avid marathoner: he travels around the world to participate in international marathons.

Diego, Dario and Luca are the new generation leading the Fratelli Rossetti company today, true to tradition but also embracing the new, inevitable changes that keep Fratelli Rossetti at the top of the fashion industry.

Fratelli Rossetti has a long tradition of “big little innovations”. In this company, tradition and quality have always gone hand in hand with insatiable curiosity and commitment to innovation. From the introduction of tassels and the invention of shoes designed to be worn without socks, to stylistic innovations and the launch of the “masculine” style, to the application of colors in unique chromatic shades. It was Renzo Rossetti who emphasized the importance of embracing new materials, styles and shapes: back in the 60s, he was already experimenting with different color combinations on leather. Today, the company continues its research and development activities thanks to the knowledge of its craftsmen and the creative spirit of the styling department.

Fratelli Rossetti in its collections for men has timeless classic iconic models that you can find all year in their offer, some of the models are: Brera, Brera Sport, Hobo Sport, Yacht and La Giusta.

In today’s post I present you one of the Brera models. How did this model get its name? Brera is the “art district” of Milan, where in the 60s sculptors, painters and writers tried to leave their mark, with new languages ​​and new forms. Its liberal and open atmosphere inspired the creation of the “Brera”, the fringed moccasin, a style revolution just beginning to rediscover its love of life. Like an artistic composition, Brera combines different materials and colors. This special mix of materials and shapes makes the moccasin one of the most successful chapters in Fratelli Rossetti’s history.

This model of the Brera moccasin you can see on me in today’s post is made of soft, finely finished open weave leather with evenly spaced holes on the upper. Special high-quality workmanship. These shoes have a leather sole.
