My dear fashionistas, welcome to a new fashion story on the Mr.M blog. To be honest from the beginning, BLUEMARBLE Paris is not a label I expected to wear in front of a seventeenth-century royal palace, yet that is exactly where this story ended up. When you are doing a creative job like this, some outfits take days or weeks of planning. This one took a hanger and about four seconds. I packed the navy trousers for Warsaw almost as an afterthought, and by the second frame they had quietly taken over the entire shoot. We photographed everything at Wilanów Palace, a Baroque residence on the southern edge of the city, on a morning so bright the ochre walls looked freshly painted. Yellow shirt, deep navy trousers, cream sneakers, and a palace built by a king who won at Vienna.
WHY I PACKED MY BLUEMARBLE PARIS TROUSERS FOR WARSAW
My wardrobe has grown quieter with the years. Navy, cream, camel, grey flannel, the usual adult vocabulary. Still, every so often a garment arrives that refuses to blend in, and you either respect it or leave it on the rail forever.
These trousers belong firmly in the first category. The waistband is doubled, so a second band sits above the first, each with its own row of belt loops. A thin satin cord runs down the outside seam, catching the light like a dress-uniform stripe. The leg is wide and clean, with a pressed crease that survives an entire day of walking.
Warsaw felt like the perfect place. The city rebuilt itself with enormous stubbornness, and it wears grandeur without apologizing. Wilanów is theatrical in the best sense, full of gold, stucco and statuary. A trouser with one small architectural idea in the waistband looks completely at home there.
Honestly, I also wanted to test something. Can a man past forty wear a genuinely fashion-forward silhouette without looking borrowed? By the end of the morning I had my answer, and it was yes.
WILANÓW PALACE: WHERE ROYAL HISTORY MEETS MODERN STYLE
The story starts in 1677. That year King Jan III Sobieski bought the village of Milanów, roughly ten kilometers south of the Royal Castle, with help from his friend Marek Matczyński. He renamed it Villa Nova, which Polish tongues later softened into Wilanów.
His architect was Augustyn Wincenty Locci, the Polish-born royal architect of Italian descent, who supervised the site himself. The first version stayed modest: a single-storey manor with four alcove towers, a layout typical of Polish noble houses. Then came victory at Vienna in 1683, and modest stopped being an option. Work continued until 1696, adding a second floor and copper-helmeted towers.
The result is a genuine hybrid. You can read Polish manor tradition in the side towers, Italian suburban villa in the proportions, and the French idea of a house set between courtyard and garden. Some of the reliefs and figural sculpture on the facade came from Andreas Schlüter.
Sobieski died here in June 1696. Afterward the estate passed through remarkable hands, including Elżbieta Sieniawska, who bought it in 1720, and later the Lubomirski, Potocki and Branicki families. German forces damaged the palace during the Second World War, though it was never demolished after the 1944 Uprising. It reopened to the public in 1962. THE GOLDEN SUNDIAL ON THE SOUTH WALL
Look up in several of these photographs and you will spot a gilded sun with radiating rays. That is the palace sundial, and its backstory beats most fashion anecdotes.
The vertical dial was designed in the early 1680s by Johannes Hevelius, the astronomer from Gdańsk, together with Adam Adamandy Kochański, the royal librarian and mathematician. Craftsmen executed it in stucco in full Baroque style. It sits on the south wall, which faces the formal garden, because the front of the palace looks west. In other words, you only see it if you walk around, which is exactly what most visitors skip.
I like that detail more than I expected. A king with a scientific circle at court commissioned a clock made of shadow, then placed it where only the curious would find it. There is a lesson in that for anyone who dresses carefully. The best details rarely shout, and the doubled waistband on these trousers works on precisely the same principle.
The gardens hold one more piece of Sobieski trivia. The king kept a collection of citrus plants, stored in a small orangery on the estate. Walk the parterre today and you still pass orange and bay trees in wooden tubs, lined along gravel paths in strict geometry.
BLUEMARBLE PARIS: THE PHOTOGRAPH THAT GAVE THE LABEL ITS NAME
Anthony Alvarez founded BLUEMARBLE Paris in 2019. The name comes from the first full-view photograph of Earth captured by humankind, taken on December 7, 1972 by the Apollo 17 crew on their way to the Moon. That image became one of the most reproduced photographs in history, and it carries an obvious idea: one planet, seen whole, with no borders drawn on it.
That idea runs straight through the clothes. Alvarez was born in 1992 to a Filipino father and a French mother, and he works from an atelier in the Marais. His collections mix surf and skate references, early 2000s nostalgia and proper tailoring, which sounds chaotic on paper and reads surprisingly coherent in person.
What convinced me was the tailoring side. Plenty of young labels can print a loud shirt. Far fewer can cut a trouser that holds a crease, sits correctly on the waist and still looks like nothing else in the room. The house has built a real vocabulary here, including high-waisted styles under names like Mariner, and my pair clearly belongs to that same nautical family.
Panache is the word I keep returning to. These clothes have swagger, yet the construction underneath is serious.
BLUEMARBLE PARIS: FROM A FINANCE DESK TO PARIS FASHION WEEK
Alvarez did not arrive through the usual channels. He left a career in finance to start the label, and he has said an earlier streetwear collective, One Culture, taught him the practical trade: sampling, sourcing, production. By the time BLUEMARBLE Paris launched, the vision was already clear because the experience already existed.
Growth followed quickly. Sales doubled in 2021, the brand became an LVMH Prize semi-finalist, and stockists now include Selfridges, SSENSE, The Webster, 24S and Isetan Men. For a company this young, that spread across North America, Europe and Asia says a great deal.
The shows have matured too. His Fall/Winter 2025 presentation moved away from rave energy toward something calmer and more domestic, staged in a space styled like a countryside salon and built around le goûter, the French afternoon snack shared with family. Alvarez has spoken about building the house into a new French heritage menswear brand, which is an ambitious sentence for a label founded in 2019.
That trajectory is exactly why I feel comfortable investing here. Novelty fades fast. Craft plus a long-term plan tends to age far better.

BLUEMARBLE PARIS TROUSERS: TWO WAISTBANDS, ONE IDEA
Let me describe exactly what you are looking at, because photographs flatten this design.
The waist sits high, close to the natural waist rather than the hip. Above the standard waistband, a second band runs the full circumference, finished with its own belt loops. The effect is architectural, almost a plinth for the torso. Two rows also mean two possible belt positions, though I wore mine without one because a belt would compete with the structure.
Down each outside seam runs fine satin piping in pale blue. In direct sun it lights up like a filament. In shade it vanishes completely, and the trousers read as plain navy tailoring. That shifting quality is the whole trick.
The fabric has a dry, tightly woven surface with a controlled sheen. It holds a sharp front crease and falls straight from the knee without clinging. The leg is wide yet never exaggerated, ending in a clean turned hem.
Small things matter. The pockets sit deep enough to actually use, which these photographs demonstrate rather thoroughly. The rise is generous, so nothing shifts when you walk, sit or climb palace steps.
After a full day of shooting, they still held their crease.
BLUEMARBLE: WHY THIS SILHOUETTE WORKS FOR THE MODERN MAN
A persistent myth says high-waisted, wide-leg trousers belong only to twenty-year-olds. In practice, the opposite is often true.
A raised waistline shortens the visible torso and lengthens the leg. For most men past forty, that trade is flattering rather than risky. The wide leg then hangs from the hip in a straight column, skimming the thigh instead of gripping it. Slim trousers reveal every detail. These conceal politely.
Balance is the only real rule. Since the BLUEMARBLE Paris cut carries volume and structure, the upper half must stay calm. A plain shirt tucked in works perfectly, as you can see here. Sleeves rolled to just below the elbow keep the proportion from turning stiff.
Shoes matter as much as the shirt. A delicate loafer disappears under this hem and makes the leg look heavy. Something with visible sole presence, like the Jimmy Choo runners, anchors the bottom of the silhouette properly.
Finally, posture. Clothes like this reward a straight back and a steady walk, which sounds like advice from a grandfather and remains completely true.
BLUEMARBLE: FABRIC, CARE & THE SMALL DETAILS
A few practical notes, because trousers at this level deserve maintenance.
First, check the composition label before treating it, since the house cuts similar shapes in different cloths, including wool. My approach with anything of this weight stays conservative. I steam rather than iron, and I never rest a hot plate directly on satin piping.
Second, hang them properly. Clip hangers gripping the hem distort the crease over time. A trouser hanger holding the waistband keeps the line intact and lets the leg fall naturally.
Third, resist dry cleaning after every wear. Airing overnight solves most issues, and less chemical exposure means a longer life for both cloth and piping.
Fourth, take the hem seriously. With a wide leg, two centimeters decides everything. Too long and the shoe disappears. Too short and the whole look turns theatrical. Mine just touches the sneaker with a whisper of break, and I would not change it.
FERRAGAMO: THE YELLOW SHIRT THAT SET THE TONE
The FERRAGAMO shirt came first, in truth. Butter yellow, long sleeves, a generous pointed collar and a body cut with room across the chest. The fabric feels smooth and quietly luminous, which is why the color shifts between pale cream in shade and full sunshine in direct light.
Most men own exactly zero yellow shirts. I understand why. Yellow sits close to the skin tone, so a bad yellow drains the face while a loud yellow shouts. This one does neither, because it stays soft rather than acidic.
Against navy, it stops behaving like a color and starts behaving like light. Notice how it reflects onto the trousers in the close-up frames. That is the sort of thing you discover on location, never in a fitting room.
Collar open, sleeves rolled, everything tucked. No tie, no jacket, no watch competing for attention. When one piece carries structure and another carries color, a third statement only creates noise.
FERRAGAMO, FLORENCE 1927: THE SHOEMAKER WHO BOUGHT A PALAZZO
Salvatore Ferragamo’s biography reads like fiction. Born in Bonito in 1898, the eleventh of fourteen children, he made his first pair of shoes at nine years old as a gift for his sister’s First Communion.
He left for the United States in 1914, worked in a Boston shoe factory, then moved west. By 1923 he had opened the Hollywood Boot Shop, and the press soon called him shoemaker to the stars. Curiosity drove him further than fashion ever did. He studied anatomy specifically to understand how the human foot carries weight, and he eventually filed hundreds of patents.
In 1927 he returned to Italy and settled in Florence. Bankruptcy nearly ended everything, yet by 1938 he had founded Salvatore Ferragamo S.p.A. and begun buying up Palazzo Spini Feroni, which still houses the headquarters and the museum established there in 1995. The house emblem, the Gancini, takes its shape from the iron hooks on that same building.
Then came 1947 and the Neiman Marcus Award, which had gone only to American designers since its creation in 1938. Ferragamo won it as the first non-American, carrying an “invisible” sandal with a wooden wedge heel shaped like the letter F.
The company shortened its name to FERRAGAMO in 2022 with a new logo, the same year Maximilian Davis took creative charge.
FERRAGAMO: HOW TO WEAR A YELLOW SHIRT WITHOUT LOOKING OVERDONE
Yellow intimidates men unnecessarily. A few rules make it simple.
Choose a soft, buttery tone rather than a saturated one. Pale yellow behaves like a neutral in the same way pale blue does, and it flatters far more complexions than people assume. Pair it with genuinely deep colors. Navy, charcoal, forest green and dark brown all give the yellow something solid to sit against. Black looks harsh beside it, so I avoid that combination entirely.
Keep everything else plain. One bright shirt plus one interesting trouser already forms a complete idea. Add a patterned jacket and the whole thing collapses. Roll the sleeves. A crisp yellow shirt buttoned to the wrist can read slightly dated, whereas a rolled cuff relaxes it instantly.
Mind your shoes. Cream, off-white, tan and mid-brown all work beautifully. Glossy black fights the softness of the color.
JIMMY CHOO MEMPHIS SNEAKERS IN NATURAL
Footwear had one job here: hold the base of a wide trouser without stealing the frame. The Jimmy Choo Memphis runners in natural did exactly that.
They are built in smooth leather with leather trim detailing, in a tonal cream that photographs beautifully against navy. The JC logo appears tone on tone at the side and on the tongue, so branding stays subtle from normal viewing distance. The interior is unlined, the insole comes out, and there is a spare set of laces in the box, which is a small courtesy I appreciate.
The best detail hides at the back. The rubber sole carries contrasting heel inserts with an embossed crystal effect, catching light as you walk. Look closely at the step photographs and you will see it glinting. A gum-toned tread finishes the underside and warms the whole shoe.
On foot they feel substantial without turning clumsy. The sole has enough height to anchor a wide hem, and the cream leather keeps everything summery. One honest warning: pale leather demands care. I treat mine with protective spray before travel and wipe them down the same evening, because gravel paths at Wilanów are not gentle.
JIMMY CHOO: FROM PENANG TO HACKNEY AND A VOGUE SPREAD
Jimmy Choo Yeang Keat was born in Penang in November 1948 into a family of shoemakers. Reportedly he made his first shoe at eleven, taught by his father, mostly by being told to sit and watch.
London followed. He studied at Cordwainers Technical College in Hackney, graduating in 1983, funding himself with restaurant work and a part-time cleaning job in a shoe factory. In 1986 he opened his own workshop in a rented former hospital building in Hackney. British Vogue ran an eight-page spread on his shoes in 1988, and everything accelerated. Diana, Princess of Wales, became a client in the early 1990s.
The company as we know it was founded in May 1996, when Choo partnered with Tamara Mellon, then accessories editor at British Vogue. Her father Tom Yeardye, a former Hollywood stuntman and co-founder of Vidal Sassoon, invested £150,000 to launch it. The first boutique opened on Motcomb Street in Belgravia.
Here is my favorite part. Sandra Choi, the niece of Choo’s wife, joined him back in 1989 and remains the only member of that founding group still with the house, serving as creative director through every change of ownership. Choo sold his own stake in 2001, and Michael Kors Holdings, now Capri, acquired the brand in November 2017.
WILANÓW PALACE: PRACTICAL NOTES FOR A FASHION SHOOT
If you plan a visit, a few observations from the ground. Morning light suits the garden facade best. The sun swings around to that southern wall and lights the sundial directly, which is when the gilding really performs. Later in the day the courtyard side takes over.
Wear something you can genuinely walk in. Gravel paths, lawns and stone steps make up most of the route, and delicate soles suffer. My cream runners handled it fine, although they needed cleaning afterward. Allow half a day at minimum. The interiors, the park and the garden parterres each deserve time, and the grounds run far larger than photographs suggest.
Take the long way around the building. Most visitors photograph the front and leave. The rear terrace, the balustrades, the busts set into the wall and the quieter side porticos gave us the calmest and, frankly, the best frames of the day.
Finally, dress with a little intention. This is not a place that rewards a t-shirt and a rushed schedule. The easiest way to reach Wilanów is by city bus from the Royal Route, about twenty minutes from the Sheraton Grand Warsaw, where I stayed.
THREE WAYS TO RESTYLE THIS LOOK
The same trousers carry three completely different moods, which is the real argument for buying something this distinctive.
For autumn in the city, I would swap the shirt for a cream cashmere crewneck, tucked loosely, with dark brown suede loafers and a camel overcoat. The satin piping then becomes the only ornament in an otherwise sober outfit.
For evening, a black or deep navy silk shirt tucked in, a slim leather belt threaded through the lower loops, and polished derbies. Add a simple gold watch and nothing more. The doubled waistband handles formality surprisingly well.
For travel, a plain white t-shirt, an unstructured navy blazer and these exact sneakers. That version is the one I have worn most since Warsaw, usually to airports, where it looks considered while feeling like pajamas.
Notice that BLUEMARBLE Paris stays constant in all three. Good design earns its price by being flexible, not by being photographed once.
THE FINAL LOOK: WHEN STYLE MEETS WILANÓW
We finished on the palace steps in late light, with the ochre walls turning apricot. Standing there, I realized this outfit had done something I value more each year. It felt current without chasing anything.
The Ferragamo shirt brought warmth and a century of Florentine know-how. The Jimmy Choo runners kept everything grounded and modern. Both are houses I trust completely. Yet the piece people asked about afterward, the one I kept catching in reflections, came from a Paris label barely seven years old.
Panache is not about volume. It is about conviction. Wear clothes with a genuine idea inside them, stand up straight, and let a three-hundred-year-old palace do the rest.

Was mir an diesem Beitrag besonders gefällt, ist die Verbindung zwischen Mode und Geschichte. Die Kombination aus dunkelblauer weiter Hose, gelbem Ferragamo-Hemd und den hellen Jimmy-Choo-Sneakern wirkt modern, aber nicht bemüht. Die doppelte Bundlösung der BLUEMARBLE-Hose finde ich wirklich außergewöhnlich. Interessant fand ich auch deine Erklärung, warum eine hohe Taille bei Männern über vierzig oft sogar vorteilhaft sein kann. Viele Männer greifen mit zunehmendem Alter automatisch zu schmaleren Hosen, obwohl eine gerade, etwas großzügigere Silhouette häufig eleganter aussieht. Wilanów ist dafür natürlich eine fantastische Kulisse. Ich würde diese Hose allerdings gerne einmal mit einem dunkelbraunen Wildleder-Loafer sehen.

Non è una combinazione facile, ma qui funziona perché nessuno dei due colori è aggressivo. Mi piace molto anche il doppio cinturino in vita, che rende il pantalone quasi un elemento architettonico. E poi Wilanów è semplicemente spettacolare. Ho apprezzato molto anche la parte dedicata a Salvatore Ferragamo e a Palazzo Spini Feroni. Marko, este post me ha hecho mirar los pantalones de cintura alta de una manera completamente diferente. Normalmente los hombres pensamos que un pantalón ancho puede hacernos parecer más grandes, pero explicas muy bien por qué una cintura elevada puede alargar visualmente las piernas. Los BLUEMARBLE tienen además ese detalle de las dos cinturillas que los hace especiales. Me gusta que no hayas añadido cinturón porque habría competido con el diseño. There is something wonderfully old-fashioned about the setting and something very contemporary about the trousers, and somehow they make perfect sense together. I particularly enjoyed the story behind Wilanów rather than simply seeing it as another beautiful palace. The detail about Jan III Sobieski and the transformation after Vienna was fascinating. Marko, jako Polak bardzo się cieszę, że pokazałeś Wilanów właśnie w taki sposób. Większość zdjęć skupia się na samym pałacu, a tutaj moda naprawdę współgra z architekturą. Granatowe spodnie BLUEMARBLE są odważne, ale dzięki prostemu krojowi nie wyglądają przesadnie. Podwójny pas w talii to detal, który zauważa się dopiero po chwili, i właśnie to bardzo mi się podoba. Żółta koszula Ferragamo świetnie wygląda na tle ochrowych ścian. Bardzo praktyczna była też część o długości spodni i tym, jak powinny układać się na sneakersach. What a great location for this particular outfit. The ochre walls of Wilanów almost make the butter-yellow Ferragamo shirt look even warmer. I was initially more interested in the BLUEMARBLE trousers, though, especially after reading about the double waistband and the satin piping. Marko, este é um daqueles looks que parecem simples à primeira vista, mas ficam muito mais interessantes quando começamos a observar os detalhes. As calças BLUEMARBLE são claramente a peça principal, sobretudo por causa do cós duplo. Gostei muito de teres usado a camisa Ferragamo amarela sem gravata e com as mangas enroladas. Isso impede que o conjunto fique demasiado formal. As sapatilhas Jimmy Choo também foram uma escolha inteligente porque dão peso suficiente à perna larga. E o cenário do Palácio de Wilanów é magnífico. A combinação de moda parisiense com arquitetura barroca polaca ficou realmente muito natural.
I loved the sentence about clothes needing a genuine idea inside them, because that is exactly what these trousers have. They are not simply wide navy trousers with a designer label attached. Ich fand besonders interessant, dass du die BLUEMARBLE-Hose nicht nur als modisches Statement, sondern als tragbares Kleidungsstück erklärst. Die tiefen Taschen, die großzügige Leibhöhe und die stabile Bügelfalte machen sie tatsächlich alltagstauglicher, als man zunächst denkt. Das doppelte Bunddesign bleibt trotzdem der besondere Blickfang. Sehr gelungen finde ich auch die Kombination mit den cremefarbenen Jimmy-Choo-Sneakern. Ein klassischer schwarzer Schuh hätte den Look meiner Meinung nach unnötig schwer gemacht. Die gelbe Ferragamo-Hemdjacke beziehungsweise das Hemd bringt dagegen Leichtigkeit. Genau diese Balance macht das Outfit interessant.
J’ai particulièrement aimé ton observation selon laquelle les meilleurs détails ne cherchent pas à attirer immédiatement l’attention. Le cadran solaire doré de Wilanów et le double waistband du pantalon BLUEMARBLE racontent presque la même histoire. Les deux sont visibles seulement si l’on prend le temps de regarder. The history section on Anthony Alvarez was unexpectedly interesting. I knew BLUEMARBLE mainly as a younger Paris label, but I had not realised the founder came from finance and had already learned the practical side of production through One Culture. That explains why the trousers feel designed rather than simply decorated. The high waist and wide leg are clearly deliberate. I also appreciated the connection between the brand name and the Apollo 17 photograph. It gives the label a much bigger idea than just early-2000s nostalgia. Mi piace molto il modo in cui hai raccontato Ferragamo in questo articolo. La storia di Salvatore Ferragamo sembra davvero un romanzo, soprattutto il passaggio da Bonito a Hollywood e poi il ritorno a Firenze. Anche il dettaglio del Palazzo Spini Feroni e del Gancini è affascinante. Ma tornando all’outfit, trovo che la camicia gialla sia stata una scelta molto intelligente. Con il blu scuro dei pantaloni diventa quasi un colore neutro luminoso. Le sneakers Jimmy Choo mantengono invece il look giovane. Secondo me sarebbe interessante vedere questi pantaloni con una polo in maglia color ecrù.

Me encantó la idea de fotografiar esta ropa en Wilanów porque no parece una simple sesión de moda. El palacio, los jardines y la ropa cuentan una historia conjunta. Los pantalones azul marino de BLUEMARBLE tienen mucha presencia, pero la camisa amarilla de Ferragamo consigue suavizar el conjunto. También me gustaron mucho las zapatillas Jimmy Choo porque no intentan competir con el pantalón. Die doppelte Bundpartie der BLUEMARBLE-Hose ist wirklich ungewöhnlich. Gleichzeitig gefällt mir, dass du sie nicht mit noch mehr auffälligen Teilen überladen hast. Très belle découverte de BLUEMARBLE. Je connaissais le nom, mais je n’avais jamais vraiment regardé les constructions de la maison. Le pantalon que tu portes possède une vraie personnalité, notamment grâce aux deux ceintures et au passepoil bleu pâle. J’aime aussi le contraste entre cette pièce très contemporaine et un palais aussi historique que Wilanów. La chemise Ferragamo jaune beurre est parfaitement choisie. Elle apporte de la lumière sans devenir criarde. Et les sneakers Jimmy Choo rendent l’ensemble beaucoup plus actuel. De combinatie van Parijs en Pools barok werkt hier verrassend goed. Ik vind vooral de BLUEMARBLE-broek interessant omdat hij van een afstand bijna klassiek oogt. Pas dichterbij zie je de dubbele tailleband en de lichtblauwe satijnen bies. Dat is precies het soort detail dat ik in luxe kleding waardeer. De gele Ferragamo overhemdkleur maakt de outfit zomers zonder te sportief te worden. Ook de Jimmy Choo-sneakers passen goed bij de bredere pijp. Caro Marko, questo articolo è davvero ben costruito. Mi piace che tu abbia dedicato spazio anche alla storia del palazzo e non soltanto all’abbigliamento. La meridiana dorata sul lato sud è un dettaglio magnifico e non avevo idea della collaborazione tra Johannes Hevelius e Adam Adamandy Kochański. Anche il collegamento con il doppio cinturino dei pantaloni è molto elegante. Per quanto riguarda il look, la camicia Ferragamo giallo burro è probabilmente il mio elemento preferito. È luminosa ma non aggressiva. Le sneakers Jimmy Choo completano tutto con una nota contemporanea molto discreta.

Eine dunklere oder glänzende Schuhfarbe hätte meiner Meinung nach die Leichtigkeit genommen. Sehr interessant fand ich außerdem die Geschichte von Jimmy Choo, besonders die Jahre in Hackney und die Vogue-Veröffentlichung von 1988. Dadurch bekommt die Marke eine ganz andere Tiefe. Nie wiedziałem również, że tylna część pałacu może dawać spokojniejsze kadry niż główna fasada. Jeśli chodzi o stylizację, granatowe spodnie są świetnym przykładem nowoczesnego krawiectwa. Gleichzeitig bleibt die Farbe so klassisch, dass sie nicht schnell altmodisch wirken dürfte. Die helle Paspel ist ein besonders schöner Effekt.
