My dear fashionistas, welcome to another fashion story on the Mr.M blog! Everyone who has been following my blog for years knows that I am one of those men who believe that true elegance is recognized by a sense of understated refined elegance. Clothes can sometimes give a special kind of confidence that comes naturally when I choose clothes that speak softly but send a pretty clear message. In today’s post, you have the opportunity to see the clothing combination of the prestigious French house Lanvin. Today’s outfit has a special note, especially because of this unusual colorful silk shirt that refreshes every outfit, while dark trousers with clean lines complement the feeling of elegance with the inevitable white leather Bumper sneakers that have become the new recognizable symbol of this French brand.

This is a story about an outfit, but also about the energy of a brand that has inspired me for years to stay true to myself, to tell a personal male fashion story through colors, materials and unusual cuts with photos that were created in motion at the moment when the city and clothes become one. This combination of life and fashion is the reason why I want to take you deeper than the silk that you feel cools the body, over the hem of the leg and the leather sole that softens the step and emphasizes the dynamism.

Many people ask me why I love Lanvin over all other French fashion houses? The answer is quite simple! Because there is something in the history of this brand that disciplines and liberates me at the same time, because the Lanvin fashion house was founded by Jeanne Lanvin back in 1889 in Paris and the brand is today recognized as one of the oldest French fashion houses still creating. This fact always reminds me that fashion is not just a trend but a continuous chain of decisions and tastes that lasts for decades, and when I wear a Lanvin piece of clothing or a pair of their shoes, I feel that thread that unites tradition with touches of contemporary craftsmanship.

LANVIN: THE HISTORY OF FRENCH LUXURY

Lanvin is a fascinating brand because you can immerse yourself in the history of the brand through their fabrics. When I tie the laces of the Bumper sneakers, I have the impression of combining sporty elegance with the new rhythm of the city. As someone who has been professionally associated with luxury fashion for many years, I know how rare it is to find a brand that manages to be both consistent with itself and contemporary, and the unrivaled Lanvin does it with great precision and passion that denies the Lanvin team that their creations reach the hearts of lovers of true French fashion.

I’m going to start today’s story with the shirt, because it drives the game in today’s post. A silk multi-colored shirt with an artistic, gently geometric tone arrangement refreshed my outfit today. In the sun, silk slightly reflects the light, so the colors acquire a depth that seems almost cinematic. It is interesting how tolerant silk is to the daily rhythm, if the quality of silk is good it allows the body to breathe better than linen, it is not like cotton which in some cases causes heatstroke in me. What attracted me to this shirt are these colorful blocks of color that remind me of art paintings by famous painters. On the other hand, navy pants are the exact opposite of a shirt and that’s why they are perfect for this outfit, because the navy color only complements the elegance and gives a special fashion stamp to this fashion harmony.

How Lanvin became synonymous with prestige

Pants are also very interesting, because of the very structure of the material that looks like a wrinkled and crumpled mass, and they are also made of silk, which, at least for me, is of great importance in the summer to feel comfortable and elegant even in high temperatures. I’m sure that people who have been following my blog for a long time know how much I love the taupe color as a reliable friend who has never let me down. These pants are formal enough that I can go to a business meeting without a special announcement, yet relaxed enough that I can sit on a bench in the city and just watch the people passing by. In the cut of these pants, I appreciate the little things, the waist height that keeps the proportion, the discreet fold that lengthens the length of the legs, and the light material. When the taupe color is combined with the silk blocks of the shirt, you get a balance between meditative and playful.

This is the secret of a serious and unobtrusive style, to let one thing speak loudly, and the other just quietly follow and complement the outfit itself. The Lanvin Bumper sneaker is, in my opinion, a perfect example of how a retro slant can become a contemporary symbol of luxury. The silhouette of the sneaker is inspired by racing models from past decades, but the key is in that distinctive bump detail on the heel rubber protection that bounces a little, gives visual stability and softens the step. My sneakers are white and made entirely of leather, and can be found in other material combinations. When I paired these perfect white sneakers with navy pants and a colorful shirt, this outfit got a comfortable, casual, yet elegant look in every sense.

When I talk about the fashion house Lanvin, I always remember the story from which it all started when Mrs. Jeanne Lanvin started as a hat maker, and then as a designer who first dressed her own daughter, hence the famous motif of mother and daughter, which still stands as a symbol of the brand. That emotional foundation is what fascinates me again and again because Lanvin has been built from the beginning on the idea of relationship on tenderness transformed into a cut. Decades later in modern history, Albert Elbaz, who was the creative director from 2001 to 2015, had a great influence on the recognizable style and in many ways brought the house back into the spotlight. His fashion stamp and distinctive style followed by soft forms, intelligent elegance skilfully played with the volume and design of the dresses as a moving sculpture.

More recently, Lanvin has introduced the concept of Lanvin Lab, a platform for special collaborations that was launched in 2023, signaling an openness to new fashion voices. The first collaboration was with the musician Future, which in terms of fashion is an interesting intersection of tradition and contemporary rhythm. I like the idea that a house with so much history wants to collaborate with the present without fear. In practice, this means creating pieces that can live both in the wardrobe of lovers of old Lanvin design and in the wardrobe of someone who likes something urban, rhythmic and at the same time sporty. So my outfit today is somewhere between the world of art because of the colorful art shirt and the hustle and bustle of the sounds of the city that these white Bumper sneakers that smell like asphalt bring with them, all under the dark blue sky of the pants.

THE BRAND THROUGH THE HISTORY OF THE RED CARPET

If you love red carpet fashion, you must know that Lanvin has a long list of famous ladies and men who have worn their creations. Names like Beyoncé, Natalie Portman or Meryl Streep speak volumes about the brand’s class, each of them at some point chose Lanvin to accompany their important public appearance. What is interesting to me is how Lanvin never imposes itself, but each of their creations seems comfortable, like a natural mirror of the person who wears their creations. In the men’s fashion collection, I recognize the same logic: cuts that elongate, colors that calm, details that are revealed only when you get closer.

Recently, fashion house Lanvin appointed actor Cheng Yi as a global ambassador, which speaks to the ambition to convey the message of elegance to different markets and cultures. True elegance is universal, but its interpretation must be locally sensitive. When I talk about my personal experience, I want to be modest and point out that silk as the basic material of the jacket gives me lightness and freedom, while navy pants give me support, and Bumper sneakers give me rhythm. Together those three elements do what I love most, they enter both the formal and casual fashion worlds effortlessly.

WHY DO I CHOOSE LANVIN?

If you ask me how I feel, I will say that I have put on my story. It’s like I chose the colors that I already have in me, and the fabrics only helped to make them visible to the eye and to share with all of you, which is ultimately why I love to write about fashion, because a good combination does not change who we are, but clearly shows the best in us. So that today’s fashion story does not remain on emotion, it might be better to share some concrete tips with you.

Today, I tried to give you an inspiration of how an interesting summer outfit should look, if you want to repeat this balance, start from the palette, so that the shirt is your place of freedom to express yourself through colors, and the pants and sneakers are more reduced and calm. The key is simplicity and it is enough for only one piece of clothing to be brightly colored to have a perfect outfit, and for the rest of the outfit try to use some basic colors that will only complete your outfit.

OUTFIT

Silk Shirt: Lanvin

Trousers: Lanvin

Sneakers: Lanvin

Mr.M by Marko Tadic, luxury fashion and lifestyle blog, Lanvin combination with a colorful silk shirt and navy silk pants.

When it comes to materials, choose a medium-weight silk that is strong enough to drape, yet soft enough not to wrinkle at the first movement. For trousers, insist on the width of the leg, which narrows slightly towards the article, this allows the sneaker to come to the fore. With the Bumper model of sneakers, pay attention to the leather and finish. White leather requires special care, but that’s why it rewards with a crystal white shine that illuminates the entire outfit and provides a special experience to the onlookers. If you are looking for the ideal sneaker that is comfortable, yet elegant and comfortable, then the Bumper model is ideal for you! The bumper sneaker is comfortable, yet soft enough that you can spend a whole day in the city without having to change clothes.

Proper wardrobe maintenance is rarely written about, and it is the key to maintaining luxury. I take the silk shirt to a professional dry cleaner or wash it by hand in cold water with a special detergent for silk. I dry it on a flat surface and iron it over a thin cloth at a very low temperature. I store my navy trousers on a wide offinger so that there is no bend at the knee, and I occasionally use a natural bristle brush to remove dust. I treat white leather sneakers with a mild product for the leather and a clean damp cloth, and I wipe the leather sole after every walk, because whiteness requires attention, but it also returns neatness and incredible shine.

I believe that good and adequate care is just as important as smart shopping. Luxury is not just a price, luxury is also the habit of treating things with respect. Lanvin is one of the few brands that reminds me of several values that are very important to me professionally. The first is the consistency of the fact that the house has existed since 1889 and is still recognized for its elegance, which is not loud, but intelligent. Another is the ability to collaborate. Lanvin Lab tells me that history is not a closed album, but an open diary in which new people write their pages. The third is the motif of mother and daughter is not a marketing trick, it is a touching basis that teaches us tenderness. In men’s style, this translates into the way the cut respects the proportions of the body, in tones that naturally adapt to the style of the person wearing Lanvin pieces, and in details that make sense. When I wear Lanvin clothes, I feel like I’m playing on a team that understands that elegance is a matter of education as much as it is a matter of aesthetics.

As I walk around the city in this outfit, I notice how passers-by react to my outfit. I honestly love those silent dialogues and eye contact when people look curiously at the clothes I’m wearing, and I especially love questions like “Excuse me, can you tell me where you bought this shirt/pants?” they only reassure me that I’m doing my job well, that I’m still on the right path. Since I get a lot of questions every day about how to choose the right size and whether you should choose sizes so that things are close to the body or loose, I will try to give you an answer from my fashion angle. For a shirt, I choose a size that allows for movement, but not so much that I get lost in it. The shoulder has to lie so that the sleeve ends just above the elbow, and the bottom edge does not come over the waist too much when I bend over. I keep my pants close to my natural waist, if they are too low the line is lost, if they are too high it looks old fashioned. I like the legs to be slightly shortened, so that the shoes always come to the fore and the ankle breathes.

The bumper model of sneakers has a specific heel, so the balance with the length of the pants makes a big difference. If you’re taller, leave an extra centimeter on the hem, if you’re shorter, keep the hem clean and sharp. The good fit of clothes is not a dogma, but it is the mathematics of elegance. This combination can be used in some creative industries and as a business one, but for your soul you can always wear such an unusual colorful outfit. For example, when I go to meetings with my potential clients, I like to stay true to myself, I never pretend to be serious, but I insist on being polite and punctual. Lanvin helps here because its aesthetics do not require explanations, they are self-explanatory. After the meeting, this same combination takes on a different rhythm, while I walk or stop for coffee with friends, I feel like the city belongs to me.

It’s not a matter of vanity, it’s that healthy dose of belonging that comes when style is in balance with mood. Think of this outfit as a travel outfit. An easy-to-pack silk shirt, low-maintenance navy trousers and white Bumper sneakers to ease long airport walks. I like to explore cities through the rhythm of my steps, so sneakers with good support and a light tread make a difference for me. When it comes to the plane, I wear a thin cardigan or blazer over my shirt and carry a light bag in my hand. Lanvin teaches me that functionality and luxury don’t have to be mutually exclusive, if I choose materials and proportions carefully I can travel comfortably and still look put together. I believe it is the new definition of luxury, the ability to live my life plans without compromising on style.

Detail of Lanvin silk navy trousers from Mr.M by Marko Tadic blog, true French elegance.

Let me focus a little on colors! Navy and white are classic almost uniform colors, but when I add colorful fields of silk to them, I get a new fashion rhythm. You often ask me how I choose color combinations that seem calm without being boring. The answer is in the right color relationships, where there must be one dominant calm shade like in this fashion story navy, one bright color – white (in this post) and one structure that creates excitement – colorful blocks in my case. If the pattern is pastel, allow more contrast in the sneakers, if the pattern is strong, I insist on a minimalist color of the sneakers.

At the Lanvin fashion house, these relationships are easy to achieve, as the brand naturally leans towards a sophisticated palette of colors that are always nuanced without strong tones. It’s the difference between luxury and loud style! I often return to the idea of continuity because Jeanne Lanvin created a world where clothes were an extension of emotion. During the 20th century, the Lanvin fashion house built a reputation for cut and taste, and in recent history, Albert Elbaz brought the joy of life through dresses that brought new life to this fashion house. When I wear Lanvin clothes today, I feel like I’m wearing the result of that long story of masculine silhouettes that are calm, and the details are so striking, yet minimalistic and understated.

This outfit, although simple, contains all the necessary layers that a good outfit requires. The silk shirt is a tribute to the creativity of the fashion heritage of the Lanvin fashion house, while the texture of the navy pants is a tribute to the precise cut, the Bumper sneakers are a combination of tradition and the future of the Lanvin fashion house. In my opinion, luxury is the ability to combine past, present and past in one combination. Another value I value is responsibility. As someone who makes a living from the world of fashion, I try to choose fashion pieces thoughtfully. I always believe that the correct opinion is that you should buy less and at the same time buy better, it is a formula that is learned only after many years of experience.

With the Lanvin fashion house, I feel that the customer gets a story that can last. This fashion house creates timeless pieces that can follow you for years. Investment has no meaning if clothes or shoes are not worn, and here the meaning is very practical in comfort and self-confidence. If you’re thinking about buying, here’s how I approach the selection. First I check the fabric and the origin of production. Second, I check if the cut follows my body line. Third, I wonder if the new piece refreshes the wardrobe I already own or repeats it. A silk patterned shirt refreshes the navy pants, while white sneakers connect these two in an apparently incompatible world. Fourth, I try everything together, the pieces must fit.

Mr.M by Marko Tadic blog, Lanvin outfit with a colorful silk shirt and navy pants in a luxurious street style edition.

Lastly I think about maintenance, if I can’t maintain the white leather of the sneakers, I don’t buy them. When I go through all those steps, the decision is easier and the satisfaction is greater. Luxury is a responsible pleasure, in the end, to sum up, this Lanvin combination is my way of welcoming the summer of 2025 with calm determination. In it, I feel awake and ready for new challenges! The colorfulness of silk encourages me to move through the day with ease. Navy pants remind me of the importance of structure and focus, while Bumper sneakers remind me to keep up and smile.

If you take away only one idea from this text, let it be this: true elegance is not a burden to anyone, it is comfortable, quiet and durable. Lanvin taught me that, and this outfit is my little outdoor lesson. Some of the many questions you most often ask me about this outfit:

How do you wear silk during the day? Lightly, I don’t cover her with heavy layers of clothing and I don’t suffocate her with aggressive perfumes, I let her breathe. If it’s warm I roll up the sleeves slightly, if it’s windy I add a thin jacket and let the silk peek out from underneath.

Do sneakers detract from the formality of navy trousers? Not in this case! White leather sneakers, especially when they are clean and minimalistic, act as a modern sign of good taste. The bumper model reinforces this through a discreet but recognizable detail on the heel.

Would classic shoes be a better solution for this outfit? Sometimes yes, but here my goal was to stay in the rhythm of the street. If I switch sneakers, I’ll get a classic twist on loafers, but I’ll lose that kineticism I need for a day full of movement.

How do you choose your shirt size? I choose it so that the shoulders lie down and the torso remains free. Silk does not suffer from the nervousness of the cut. If the button is too large, the structure disappears.

How do you combine colors when the shirt is colorful? I stick to the rule of two calm colors, one playful. Dark and white are calm in this outfit, and the colors on the shirt are playful.

A short careful review of several important moments for the Lanvin brand. This fashion story begins in 1889, when Mrs. Jeanne Lanvin starts her workshop in Paris. Beginning of the 20th century, the mother and daughter motif becomes a symbol of the house. The more modern era of this prestigious French fashion marks the period of Albert Elbaz from 2001 to 2015 and returns Lanvin to the focus of a wider audience through poetic silhouettes. In recent years, the studio approach and the Lanvin Lab project have opened the door to collaborations and this fashion house remains true to the Parisian DNA while constantly collaborating with contemporary culture.

My dear fashionistas, thank you for walking with me through Lanvin‘s fashion world through this text. I hope that this combination has inspired you to find your own rhythm, maybe it’s colored silk, and maybe it’s a calming dark color, or maybe white sneakers that call you outside to discover the world around you. If we meet on the street, we will recognize each other by that quiet smile that comes when the style is right! See you soon in a new fashion story on the Mr.M blog, and let me remind you that in September the new season of travel writing on the Mr.M blog begins, so we continue to discover South America and beautiful Venezuela.

I am currently on vacation, but I am preparing for a new interesting adventure and I am going to the other side of the world, which means that this winter you will have very interesting travelogues and fashion stories from a very unusual continent.

Dear Marko, I’ve been following your blog for several months now, and this fashion story with Lanvin truly stood out. Your attention to the heritage of the brand from Jeanne Lanvin’s early years to the emotive logo, was beautifully written. I especially loved how you connected the brand’s legacy to its modern sneakers, like the Bumper. The personal tone really makes me feel like I’m getting a fashion insider’s point of view. I’m curious, where did you take the photos? The lighting highlights the materials so well. Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful pieces. It’s clear why this blog… Read more »

What a fantastic journey through the world of Lanvin, especially your narrative effortlessly blends history, aesthetics, and personal style. I appreciate how you honoured the brand’s craftsmanship while keeping the story so warm and accessible. The detail about Albert Elbaz’s emotional interpretation of the logo was particularly touching. I often visit fashion blogs, but rarely find one that balances expertise with friendliness like yours. Do you perhaps have a post planned that delves into other heritage brands the same way? Either way, I’ll be here, reading every word. Best, Anna

Hey Marko, I just arrived at your post after a friend recommended your blog and now I’m hooked! Your breakdown of Lanvin and its “quiet luxury” ethos resonated deeply with me. It’s rare to see a menswear writer comprehensively cover both historical heritage and contemporary relevance so gracefully. I admired the phrase “quiet luxury”, it perfectly speaks to what many men seek these days. I’d love to read your take on other French maisons with a similar vibe. Do you think Lanvin’s identity aligns with the broader “modern man” archetype? Brilliant work and great insight, I’ll be recommending this to… Read more »

Another wonderful article Marko! Your passion for heritage and craftsmanship is so vivid. I especially admired how you traced Lanvin’s evolution, including its foundation in 1889 and enduring status as the oldest French fashion house. The explanation of the logo’s origin was beautifully done. Your insight made me look at sneakers as narrative pieces, not just accessories. I actually purchased my first Lanvin sneakers after reading your fashion story about Lanvin last year and I worn them so many times! I love to read your fashion stories and your recommendations are real gold sometimes because your tips make people to spend… Read more »

Having read dozens of fashion blogs, yours truly stands out for its depth and authenticity. Your exploration of Lanvin felt both scholarly and warm, a rare combination. I was particularly struck by how well you contextualized the brand’s legacy in modern smart-casual style. The discussion around media exposure and creative direction was intriguing. I love to read your fashion postings on Instagram as well! Keep up the inspiring work!

The way you connected your silk shirt and sneakers to the brand’s DNA was genius. I’ve seen celebrities wear Lanvin on the red carpet, but you made it approachable in everyday styling. Would you ever consider doing a video series about your outfits on Instagram like GRWM kind of videos with sharing your thoughts?
