Dear fashionistas, welcome to another fashion story on the Mr.M blog. Merry Christmas with lots of love, I think that the best present one can hope for this year is to spend time together! After long and exhausting 2020, I hope you have opportunity to spend upcoming holidays with your family and friends.

December is the month when we summarize the whole year, our hopes and expectations, but also our failures. Personally I like this period of year because it is time for gifts, giving and receiving them. In today’s post I will give you some ideas what you should gift to HIM as the late Christmas gift.

Ématelier: The Art Kingdom where Time and Creativity have no limits…

Did you know that a watch is the best and most practical gift for everyone? You cannot make mistake with watch. Everybody loves them, everybody needs them and everybody wears them.

When you give someone a beautiful and unique watch, you will definitely remain in the heart of that person. At the same time, the watch does not only show the time, but always reminds that someone loves you and thinks of you.

I have always appreciated handicrafts, loved and respected brands that produce watches hand-painted or hand-carved elements. There are a number of watch manufacturers that offer hand-painted or engraved dials and mechanisms, but they do so with the help of professionals with a strong artistic spirit. The final result is art watches at a price that is not in line with the amount of time spent and love could be valued just a little more.

Today I have the honor to present you the Ématelier “Jaguar” watch, the model from the special limited collection “Kingdom“. This collection is inspired by the wildlife of the animal world and is intended for all people who appreciate freedom, creativity and strive to remain unique and strong. The models from this collection are unisex, ideal gift for her and him.

Ématelier watches are produced with Grand Feu enamel dials with  a variety of enamelling techniques.  They are handmade and hand painted, by a unique brand located in Toronto, Canada.  Mr. Alex Landa, a man who has woven his love and passion for watches into every piece of the unique Ematelier watches.

Mr. Landa, the founder of Ématelier, says that his love for watches was born during his practice as an apprentice in the seventies in a shop specializing in the repair and restoration of unique watches. His love for watches was constantly growing as he was following all innovations in the watch industry and gathered a stunning personal collection.

In 2013, Mr. Landa with his great knowledge and skills, decided to start his life project and fulfilled his biggest dream – the manufacture of watches with Grand Feu, enamel hand painted dials. This involved frequent trips around the world, learning the little secrets of the craft from the main masters, of which there are very few today.

Ématelier is a unique brand in the watch industry due to its specific and handmade style, where enamel dials are made and painted by hand. Enamel painting is an extraordinary combination of science and fine arts, where real miniature masterpieces are created. No matter how skilled the craftsman is, the enamel is temperamental and can spoil very easily at any stage of production. Therefore, it takes a lot of time, effort and work to get perfect results.

Each dial from Ématelier is made with great love and effort with the help of the skillful hands of craftsmen and fire. The effort pays off in the end, because the enameled dial is long lasting, even so much that it will outlive not only its first owner, but also the millennium. Thanks to its unique properties, enamel produces stunning vivid colors of endless longevity, resistant to heat, moisture and weather.

What is enamel? Enamel is a glass mixture made of silicon dioxide and various metal oxides added to create different shades. Before any color can be applied, the craftsman must create a good basis for further artistic work.

The enamel is crushed, ground and purified, first in distilled water and then in nitric acid. Then the copper, silver or gold plate is cleaned and coated with a layer of white enamel on both sides. The end result is a perfectly clean “canvas” for painting without the fear that the copper will bend when exposed to extreme temperatures.

After the process of making an enamelled dial, we come to the most complex part of making an enamelled watch, and that is making the dial. Because the colors of the enamel react differently and change in the oven, the designer must know exactly in advance how the material will react in order to create a work of art that can be faithfully reproduced.

Once the dial is properly constructed with the coated dial plate, the painting process can begin! The artist prepares a palette of colors with the nuances needed to create a predetermined image.

The image must be carefully applied in several layers and baked in an oven up to 800ºC between painting processes. First, harder, more elastic colors are applied that can withstand multiple cracking, while gentle shades are kept in the final stages. In the end, the dial is subjected to the Geneva technique, born in the Swiss city of Geneva of the same name. Here, the finished painting is already coated with transparent enamel two to three times and baked in the oven between each painting process. This sets the image, provides a completely smooth surface and improves the depth and vividness of the colors. On average, each piece of Ématelier dial goes through a total of between 10 and 12 baking processes.

With just a small misjudgment, the dial can warp, burst, or explode. Since the colors react to the heat both individually and collectively, a small mistake in the order can lead to unwanted results and force the masters to start re-making the enamelled dial.

Owning a dial, that little enamel masterpiece in my personal collection is exceptional. Due to the cost and complexity associated with its creation, the vast majority of enameled works are in museums. The rarity of skilled craftsmen is another factor, as the craft almost became extinct in the early twentieth century

How can you become the proud owner of an Ématelier watch or perhaps refresh your favorite watch with a new hand-painted enamelled dial? There are three ways to buy:

1) If you want to have the Ématelier watch that is personalized according to your needs and desires, it is enough to choose the watch model on the official website and online store – I advise you to take enough time to look at all the models from the special Atlas, Harmony or Kingdom collections and contact the experts by e-mail who will do their best to choose a watch according to your sensibility.

I advise you that due to the difficult current situation in almost all European countries, if you want to go out into the fresh air, take a walk and clear your mind, feel free to do so, but do not go to places where there are a lot of people and create crowds.

I understand that people need to go out into the fresh air for physical activity and mental health, and you can do that by walking the city in the open air every day, using the traffic-free streets. Of course you can walk through the park and other types of green areas or along the promenades along the rivers, but stick to the prescribed physical distance and use disinfectants and wear a mask.

I would like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to the care and protection of yourself and your loved ones. Let’s prevent the spread of the Corona virus and try to make this one day just one bad dream that we have successfully forgotten!

My dear fashionistas, we have come to the end of this special story. How did you like this outfit of mine today? I have prepared this outfit for you with a lot of love and I hope you like it! See you in a couple of days with some new story!

Beautiful outfit, everything is so carefully combined with a lot of love and it can be noticed in the pictures that you do everything from the heart. I like the coat, the watch and the boots, but the watch is special I have never seen a watch with so much details. Does anyone even look at this watch to check what time is it or do you just admire the beauty of the image on the dial?!
