In today’s fashion story, we are introduced to an unusual brand from Italy that produces time meters – Misuratori del Tempo.
Allemano timepieces are crafted to border on modern and innovative design with strict respect for tradition and the consistency of the “Made in Italy” feature. These unusual watches are made in Turin. Allemano is an Italian company from Turin with over 150 years of experience in the production of measuring instruments such as manometers, thermometers and dynamo-meters. With the exception of the Swiss movements, Allemano Misuratori del Tempo are entirely made in Italy.

Founded in 1856 as a manufacturer of measuring instruments for the automotive and mechanical industries, the company is now reawakened. At the beginning of 2019, Allemano presented its first wristwatch collection. This was inspired by the Allemano pressure gauges installed a hundred years earlier, in 1919 on the legendary Fiat 501 Torpedo and later on many Lancia, Ferrari, Maserati and Alfa Romeo models.
Today, all watches are still made with the same sense of professionalism and tradition as more than 150 years ago. The history of this brand is unusual and exciting, so I will try to share with you some interesting moments that marked the work of this brand. The story of this brand has been going on since 1856, until today, and this is an unusual success story.
Founded in 1856 by Giuseppe Allemano, the factory originally operated in the area of heavy industry, producing steam-powered road rollers used in road construction. 1919 was a turning point when the first measuring instruments were created. At the beginning of the 20th century, thanks to the experience gained in pressure control, production changed to measuring tools for pressure and temperature control. Those pressure gauges were installed on military vehicles and Italian cars such as the Fiat 501 Torpedo, the first Fiat series-produced to be equipped with an Allemano pressure gauge from 1919.
The year 1929 is extremely important for the Allemano brand, as it is the year the company was founded. Son Felice renamed the company Allemano F. & Figli, strengthening the production of precision mechanics for the manufacture of extremely precise manometers, thermometers and dynamometers, defining the logo that is still used today.
A little later, in 1950 to be precise, Allemano studies, plans and manufactures a whole series of measuring instruments for aviation, such as manometers for fuel and oil control, which were also used for trains and ships. With a complete assortment of precision instruments, Allemano begins cooperation with the mechanical industry, presenting its instruments for presses, industrial machines, and chemical and oil plants.
Over the following years, Allemano specialized in the manufacture, assembly and calibration of underwater instruments, such as hyperbaric chambers, depth gauges and decompression gauges, acquiring the SOS brand that produces the famous Allemano depth gauges, fully coated, manufactured and assembled at the company’s historic headquarters in Turin.
During 2010, Allemano opens its own calibration laboratory. 2019 is a truly special year in the work of this company as the collection of Misuratori del Tempo watches by Alleman has been released with motifs related to famous historical designs and a strong will to be different today as in the past. The inspiration for this collection comes from the manometer that was installed exactly 100 years ago on the FIAT 501 Torpedo. A year later, in 2020, Allemano becomes a member of Exclusive Brands Torino, the first Italian multi-sector business network that gathers top companies promoted by the Torino Industrial Association.
Another important year for the work of this company is the year 2021, when Allemano opens its first boutique in the elegant surroundings of Piazza Bodoni 1/F in Turin, showing the new face of the historic brand, but with a different look. So, not just watchmaking, but a place that encompasses the world of temperature, force, pressure and time measurement.
Last year the Allemano brand told another part of its history through a new special 1973 Collection, paying tribute to its depth gauges that set the law in underwater mechanics in the 1970s and 80s. The new line is indeed composed of a modern reissue of the historic Crab watch and the new underwater Shark watch.

Beste Marko, ik volg je blog al een tijd met veel plezier. Het Allemano-horloge spreekt me sterk aan, juist door die opvallende retrograde minuutwijzer en de kleine seconde op zes uur. Mijn vraag: hoe nauwkeurig loopt zo’n handopwinduurwerk in de praktijk, en moet je het elke dag op hetzelfde moment opwinden? Ik twijfel soms tussen het gemak van automatisch en het ritueel van handmatig opwinden. Je eerlijke ervaring zou me echt helpen bij mijn keuze.

Da appassionato di orologeria, trovo raro che una casa nata nel 1856 per la misura industriale arrivi oggi a proporre un movimento svizzero a carica manuale in una cassa così curata. Posso chiederti se gli orologi Allemano si possono acquistare e spedire facilmente in tutta Europa, oppure solo tramite la boutique di Torino e il loro store online?
